I read your post and I am a little confused can you clear something up for me? Who are the parents of Robert Hazard Jr. who married Phoebe Wing? I have them as Robert Hazard and Sarah Fish if I am wrong I would appreciate the correction. My great great grand father was named Potter Hazard, his daughter, my great grandmother was Alice Hazard.

Hi Shirley,
Personally, I have not been able to confirm anyone beyond Robert Hazard and Phoebe Wing. The information I have is based on information provided by someone else during the course of this thread. However, what is your evidence for connecting Robert Hazard to Robert Hazard and Sarah Fish? I've seen that union before and their moving to the Ferrisburgh, VT area, but I was not able to make a connection.
Thanks,
Paul

Per "Contributions to the History of the Eastern Townships" (Cyrus Thomas, 1866, chapter on East Dunham, p 165): "Ebenezer Marsh, in 1804, sold his half lot... to Robert Hazard from Kingston, RI.
Mr. Hazard lived here, and industriously laboured till his death, which occurred in 1836. He left four children - 2 sons and 2 daughters. Potter Hazard, one of the former, lives on the homestead and being a provident farmer, has made to it considerable additions."

Based on info from grave stones in the region, one can speculate that in addition to Potter (born c. 1784), Robert Jr (b. april 1796), Mary (wife of Simeon Whitman and b. 1779) and Desire (wife of Peleg Thomas and also born c. 1779) were the four children referred to. Mary Slokum, b. c. 1765, is listed as wife of Robert Hazard Sr. on her stone in the homestead graveyard.

Robert Hazard Jr married Phoebe Wing on Aug 19th, 1819. This is listed in "Protestant Marriages in the District of Bedford". Unfortunately, there are no names of parents listed for this couple.

If you look at the dates of birth, though, of Robert Sr.'s (supposed) children, Mary Slokum would have been only 14 at the birth of Mary and Desire. While this is not impossible considering the times, it is also very possible that Robert had been previously married - perhaps to a Sarah Fish?? If the dates are correct and Mary and Desire were twins, then perhaps their mother died delivering them? Looks like you'd have to check marriage records in Rhode Island to verify if Robert Sr had more than one marriage. Sorry - this is the best I can do to help with your question.

PS. Cyrus Thomas, writing in 1866, must not have been aware that Robert Hazard Sr had children other than the four who settled in Canada with their parents. I have a handwritten source from the archives at the Mississquoi Historical Society which also lists the children of Robert Hazard who stayed in the US: Elizabeth Hazard (m. Jeffrey Thomas) and Thomas Hazard (m. Deborah Thomas).
I have a note that Elizabeth and Jeffrey left RI to settle in New York near a place called Center Berlin, along with Jeffrey's parents Peleg and Russell (Aylsworth) Thomas. Jeffrey and Deborah Thomas were siblings, BTW. A third union, Desire Hazard/Peleg Thomas made it 3 Hazard siblings marrying 3 Thomas siblings. This handwritten source does not cite primary sources. It was done in 1982, possibly by a member of the Spencer family - descendants of Desire and Peleg.
