Objet : Catherine Burhart (1813) d/o John

Bonjour,

Your request goes back a while but I noticed there was no answer. I happen to have this information in my files. The act can be found on the Family Search website in the Quebec Non-Catholic parish registers section (Sorel, Church of England in Canada).

It reads as follows :

Page Eleventh

Baptised this twenty seventh day of September One thousand eight hundred and twelve Catherine Daughter of John Burhart Farmer at Pot à Beurre & of Catherine his wife - born on the twentieth Inst. The sponsors were Catherine Allen, Mary Lowe & Aaron Allen all of this place.

John Jackson
Rector

The mark of John Burhart X
The mark of Catherine Allen Godmother X
Catherine Nelson proxy for Mary Low Godmother
Aaron Allen

Catherine (the wife) was Catherine Plass not Ploss. She was the daughter of Peter Plass (whose name is often frenchified into Pierre Plasse in some documents), a Loyalist soldier of German descent from New York state who settled near Sorel after the Independence War, and of Marie Anne Lefort (my 4th greatgrandfather’s sister). As you can see I am not directly related to John Burhart, but I have his marriage act as well as some data on the Plasses and the Leforts, if you are interested.

Regards,

Marie José R.

It's been quite some time since you posted, but I just found this. I hope we can still connect.
My ancestors, William Graham m Eliza Jackson (an orphan, born in London c1840; sometimes known as Eliza Chance/Chantz), lived in the Bogton seigneury in the mid-1860s to late 1870s.
Eliza probably lived in the vicinity before marrying John Ferry c1857 and moving to the US. After Ferry's death (c1863), she married William Graham. It is believed that William (born Ireland) was there from c 1841.
Any chance your research has uncovered Eliz?

FOR: Miles Cabana
Hi Miles, I managed to trace your family and you are a Charron dit Cabana descendent. You descend from Charles and Lillian via two of their sons, Richard Charles [1922] and Theodore James [1929]. Theodore was married to Annabelle Bratlien. They were the parents of the Astronaut Robert Cabana. As some of these people are still living, post your email address if you want further information.
Chris

Looking for connections. My 3rd great grandparents, Thomas Raynault and Adelaide Catemane were married 23 Nov 1835 in St. Edouard, Napierville, Quebec. Thomas's parents were Thomas Raynault and Charlotte Guilbault of Longue Pointe. Adelaide's parents were Louis Catemane and Francoise Robert. Thomas and Adelaide migrated to the U.S. circa 1840. The name Raynault became Rano, then Reno. They were in Detroit by the 1860 census.

Re: John (or Jacob) King, married Marie Catherine Tesson, 1765

I have not uncovered much in the past eight years. We know that he died between 1778 and 1782 (between the birth of his last child and the marriage of his widow to a German military officer).

I can also tell you that he was well connected: the godparents at the baptisms of his first four children were people of higher than average social standing.

For the first two, the godmothers were the wives of Samuel and Francois MacKay, military officers stationed in Jamaica.

For the next two, the godmothers were daughters of Jean-Baptiste Boucher de Niverville, seigneur of Chambly. At the fourth baptism, the godfather was Michel Gamelin Gaucher, who also had military connections.

So all the signs seem to indicate that this Roy/King was a military officer of some sort, even though it is never explictly mentioned in any document I have seen.

I have been looking for a connection for my family. We were known as Barshow and Barshaw. I found my great grandfather in 1900 census in New York listing him and his brother Alex as Bargeron. I found newspaper articles of school attendance of my grandfather as Bergeron. I hsve pictures of the great great grandparents but not sure which picture is maternal oe paternal set. They were from Canada orginally somehow since they spoke French as did my grandfather. If the name Benjamin or BG Bergeron that may be my great grandfather esp if he has a brother Alex.
In my research, I went to the Rindge NH library and went through some of the town reports. I did find on 9/10/1900, a Fred Duplease (21 yrs old) son of William and Salina LaClare married Minnie Lesperance (21 yrs old). Do you have any info on Salina? I know exactly where Salina and William Duplease are buried in the Calvary Cemetary in Winchendon Massachusetts. Would appreciate any info you might have.

This family was also located in the neighboring parish of St-Luc, St-Jean Co., PQ. A number of parishioners from L'Acadie settled at St-Luc. Joseph Isobelle, son of Louis and Marie Anne Sanésac (sic) was born and baptized 22 Jan 1820 at St-Luc. His godparents were Jean Deslauriers and marie Catherine Poutré. He died 07 and was buried 09 February 1820 at St-Luc, age 16 days according to the record. Marie Anne Sénésac is most likely the sister of Marie Sénésac who married François Lacroix and whose children were also baptized (some) at Iberville (St-Athanase-de-Bleury).

The marriage registration does not say who their parents are, or when they were born, just "mature age."
