My mother in law was a Langlois. A few years ago I came across an
association in Quebec who's purpose is to preserve the history and
genealogies of the original Langlois who came to north america in the
1600's.

Chances are they have your family in their archives. They did mine!

My mother was a Langlois. My grandfather Joseph Roy Langlois was born in 1896 in Chenal/New Roads, Louisiana which is in Point Coupee Parish. His father was Amedee Langlois, and Amedee's father was Jacque Langlois. I have no idea who Jacques' father and grandfather were or where they came from.

I am just starting my search. I don't know exactly when they came to Louisiana and I don't know whether they came from the Langlois who came directly from French in the 1700's, or if they were of the bunch came later with the Acadians. I've only found one Jacques Langlois in records I've printed out from the internet -- one was listed as applying for Civil War Veteran pension. That would be about the time he was living, as far as I know.

In my search I've found a Zenon Langlois who was a Point Coupee Parish Louisiana land owner in 1858, and an Andre Langlois in 1849 who had property in Iberville Parish.

There were a few listed as serving in the War of 1812, and other Langlois in Louisiana applying for civil war pensions.

Also, there was an Augustin Langlois who owned a house on St. Anne Street in New Orleans in 1727; an Etienne (Stephen) Langlois who owned property on Bayou St. John in New Orleans in 1721 who is apparently buried in the St. Louis Cemetary No. 1 in New Orleans

An Augustus Langlois owned property in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana on the Regalet De Bondieu River. Not sure if it is the same Augustus, but an Augustus Langlois was the defendant in the first session ofthe district court held at Natchitoches Post in 1813, where the judgement ended up that he owed money to a M. Murphy.

I've there is anyone who can help me in my search for more info, I'd be grateful.

Thanks

My grandfather is Roselus Langlois, Paul Amedee Langlois' younger brother. Have recently began some research and found Pierre Jacque Langlois had a number of children from two wives. Please write if you are still searching.

PS - Do you have any family photos you'd like to trade copies of? I have one of Amedee with my grandfather when my grandfather was a teenager. I also have some photos of Lucia Chutz, Amedee's wife, my g-grandmother. She is the one who taught my grandmother, her daughter in law how to make the shrimp creole my mother taught me to make that is delicious.
