Surnames: Gillen, Gillan, Mcelreavy
I am looking for any information the family of John Gillen born in Ireland abt 1816, his wife Mary b. abt 1817 in Ireland. They have six children Bridget- born in Ireland, Anne, Catherine, Susan, James and John who son would marry Mary Jennie McElreavy. Looking for anything on the Gillens, particularly when and how they came to Canada. I am thinking sometime between 1844-1848 but not sure. Would also like to know of any spouses that they had etc. I have seen censuses for 1861, 1871, Leeds, Megantic, Quebec but nothing before that. Thanks Sheila

I have a copy of Patrick Gellen and Catherine Rooney marrige certificate I will send you if you like. Rooneys lived in leeds township and are in the 1871, 1881 census
Catherine Rooney Gillen was the daughter of Patrick Rooney and Hannah Newsom. It is intersting to see Francis Mcintyre listed as a godfather,
Francis Mcintyre is my gggrandfather. John Mcintyre married Rose Rooney(Catherine's sister)amd are my ggrandparrents I have not been able to find were in Ireland the McIntyre's came from three brothers francis, James and Matthew came to inverness in 1847/8.
Mccaullys family farm lies between there farms, I think they along with the Gillens came from the same area in Ireland any help on this is apprechaited.
