The burial notice of my great-uncle Paul Jacques Monfette (7/31/1922 - 8/23/1922) says he was buried in St Louis Cemetery; I would like to know if he has a tombstone on his grave, and if he does have a tombstone, I would like a photo of it.

I am doing some research on the Stewart family for an elderly lady in Neepawa. She is descedant from Andrew, the youngest son of Archibald and Clementina. Would you know if the whole Stewart family came to Canada (or just Archibald and his brother Robert). I know Jane Hamilton Stewart was buried in Norway Bay...is Charles there too...Any information appreciated

I found this possibility. From Yourfolks.com

Marriage: On July 24, 1865 in Saint-Etienne-Des-Gres
Town/District: Saint-Etienne-Des-Gres/Francheville

Between Pierre Gagnon and Anne Kentel [d/o William Kentel and Marguerite Collins]

PIERRE'S PARENTS WERE NOT IN THE MARRIAGE RECORD.
FROM GENEALOGIE.ORG
ANNE KENTEL
Date de mariage: 24-07-1865 Lieu: ST-ETIENNE-DES-GRES, QC. EGL: ST-ETIENNE
PIERRE Gagnon
Père: FRANCOIS Gagnon
Mère: MARIE GUILLEMETTE

This Pierre was first married to Marie-Louise Grenier
2 Aug 1853 Ste-Anne, Yamachiche. That would seem to account for the five year gap in the children you have: Franklin 1863 to William 1868.

Chris

Thanks!
Hello Shawna,

Hello Shawna,

I would love to specify you that I do not speak English. It is the reason for which I use a translating program of French to English for the acts. To note that the name of Marie Picard is well Picard and not Picardy.

I join to you the birth certificate of Michel Poulin, born in 1852 with the Mont St-Gregoire. The other birth certificate that you received is that of Louis in 1875. These acts were found on Ancestry.ca in the Drouin Collection, but also on Family Search.

Good day,
Claire

It looks like I have much to thank you for !! Wow !! I came home from work and found a treasure ! Th last acts you sent me were great. The first one is hard to read, but looking at the date - I'm thinking it is probably Michel's birth. Do you know which church it was from - I will look it up myself and try to read it as best as possible. I usually have a french dictionary handy for help with the translating !

Thank you again. I cannot tell you how excited I am to show my grandmother !!

Shawna

I know he married in Notre Dame de Granby, 1874 and had a son - Louis, but his wife died soon after. That was when he moved to Vermont and settled in the New Haven / Charlotte area where he became a blacksmith.

Your kindness and time are much appreciated.

Shawna

They immigrated to the USA to Oswego, NY. I remember Olivier, Napoleon, Gabriel and a sister, I believe her name was Emma. I would love to hear from you and we are at a standstill regarding this side of the family. Thank you very much for you time. Look forward to hearing from you

Hi, I just stumbled upon this post. The information I have on Onesime and Rose de Lima Latreille list the surname as LaPage. It is said that the old French cursive P looks similar to S and is often misread or misspelled.

Onesime and Rose LaPage were the great-grandparents of the person who gave me this information. Just thought I'd pass it along.

Re: Louise Manitouakikaue m. Pierre Artault-Latour

Are you still looking for info on Louise Manitouak'kouche? If so I have some info. She was an Algonquin (First peoples or Sauvagesse) who was born between 1621 to 1629 in Trois Rivieres, Que. The birth date varies from census to census. I have her death from Drouin (16 Feb 1704 in Champlain) and it has her born 1624. Manitouak'kouche would refer to her father's name. Many were know by one name and it was the French and English would gave it as the second. Louise's husband, Pierre Artault de La Tour died in the summer of 1678 and she was made a widow by an act of Adhemar (the Nortary Antoine Adhemar) on 15 Dec 1678 in Champlain. When her husband died Antoine Desrosier and Michel Desrosier dit Desilets became care givers and looked after his estate. This is when Michel and Marie Thomasse Artault had a marriage contract, she was age 14 at the time. Widow Louise, son Jean and Marie are all seen living at Michel's house in the census. Most of this info I found at Bibliotheque et Archives...Nationales du Quebec...Pistard (the court records). This info is all document. I have found no reference as to how Pierre Artault La Tour died. I have only found one birth record for their daughter Jeanne and several court documents for their son Jean but then nothing after 1704. When Louise died Marie Thomasse Desrosiers dit Desilets was her only heir. This leads me to believe that her sister and brother had possibly died or returned to their Algonquin families. But this is only speculation as like I said I have found nothing since 1704. But I am still looking and hoping that they moved and all I need to do is find where and when. Hope this helps.

Hello. My husband has been researching his family tree and it seems it is also your family tree. We are stuck on Sophronia Bechard or Buchard married to Prime Olivier DuPlessis. My husband just found Annette Buchard whose spouse was Louis and they are from Oswego. They has a son Frank. All three came from Canada. Just wondering if there is a relationship and if you know. Could Louis possibly be Sophronia's brother.

I am a decendant of Mary Campbell. Some snooping done by my family many years back claims that Garvin's father is one of the Dukes of Argyll.

Does anybody have any information to refute/confirm this? Thanks!!

Like I said, regretfully I dont read french so you would need to get a copy and get it transcribed into English as (looks to me) other names are shown. On mircrofilm at Drouin Collection. Montreal, Quebec, Canada: Institut Généalogique Drouin.

Some of these old church records also contain other info like confirmations, dispensations, censuses etc so, brush up on your French (LOL)

please have a look also at

http://www.francogene.com/quebec/sources.php

which shows many reference's

and

http://www.genealogylinks.net/canada/quebec/index-2.htm

Cant find anything on Mitchel/l tho

I am looking for any information on a Wilson Riley McLean who may have died in or around Three Rivers/Trois-Rivières, Quebec. He was last heard from in abt 1947 and was working there at the time. Wilson McLean was born about 1913 in RM Albert, Manitoba. If anyone has access to a Quebec death index, would be much appreciated if you could search for him.

Thanks
Don
