Looking for information on Antoine LaSage born in Trois - Rivieres, Quebec, Canada in June 1830. According to his Wisconsin marriage certificate, his parents are Erick and Elisa LaSage. (Only record I have for his parents at this time).

Does anyone know if the LaSage family (perhaps LeSage) were numerous in the area, etc? Any information would be helpful.

Let's start with the fact that Erick and Elisa are not common French names that go with LASAGE so it is a very unlikely combination if they were Catholic. Thus, a Protestant church marriage is most likely. (The French Elise would work, but no likely equivalent for Erick.)

LESAGE is not a common name (any spelling) in Trois Rivieres. The only marriages for that surname in the repetoire for the cathdral at Trois-Rivieres are these. The baptisms and burials are much harder to obtain from the parishes. Other possible parishes to check for his parents are:

Pointe-du-Lac: La-Visitation

Hi, I just stumbled upon this post. The information I have on Onesime and Rose de Lima Latreille list the surname as LaPage. It is said that the old French cursive P looks similar to S and is often misread or misspelled.

Onesime and Rose LaPage were the great-grandparents of the person who gave me this information. Just thought I'd pass it along.
