Need info about 1851 census

I need infomation explaining what I've found in the 1851 census for St. Mauricie Co., St. Joseph de Maskinonge. Israel Bernier, age 4, is listed among people with the surname Lafontaine. (His age was indexed on Ancestry.com at 9, but it clearly reads 4.) I need to know what this record says in English. Does this mean he was living with the Lafontaine people? My guess is that this census record actually comes from the Cathlic church records--St. Joseph Parish being where he was baptized and would've been a member. His mother died immediately after his birth and was buried from that parish. He stated in his Naturalization records that he came to the U.S. as a year-old infant. I cannot find any records for him until he enlisted in the Union Army in 1865 at Grand Rapids, Wisconsin. His marriage and death certificates give two different names for his mother--Mary J. and Celestine--and no maiden name for her. His baptism record gives Marie Noise as her name, father's name Jean Baptiste Bernier. His baptism date is 13 May 1846. Thank you for any help you might be. Linda
