Salut,

moi aussi je suis une Proulx de par ma mere, et oui y a beaucoup de proulx d ascendence amerindien, au quebec comme en Ontario, au quebec je sais qu ils viennent des Mohawk et on Ontario faudrait que je regarde dans les recherches que j ai fait. En faite le centre de metis de L ontario on des Proulx qui sont METIS. De plus ma grand-mere se dit metis de par ses deux parents incluant les proulx.

Le nom de mon arriere grand-pere, Edgar Harry Proulx nee a Nicolet QC 1891-1969 sa femme est Aurore Lafrance nee a Sturgeons Falls Espanola Ontario 1896-1970.

Donc j aimerais echanger de l information avec tout ceux qui me sont apparente contacter moi a mihikin@msn.com

My gggggggg grandfather was Michel Mignier dit Lagace born approx 1610 in Ile-de Rhe, France and married Catherine Masson.

My grandfather Philip Lagasse was born in Weedon, Quebec. It is my understanding that his father changed the name to Lagasse from Lagace. From my grandfather's family many moved west - some settling in Gravelbourg, Sask (my grandparents were married there)and some moved to Alberta settling in the Bonneyville and St. Paul area. St. Paul has a park named Lagasse Park. My grandfather, his immediate family (Leo Lagasse my uncle), Omer Lagasse (my uncle) Margaret Lagasse (Aunt) and my mother Sylvia Lagasse born 1939) eventually settled in Mallardville, BC (suburb of Vancouver) My grandfather's youngest sister Regina Lagasse when she married her last name was Meunier.

I would be interested in whatever information people may have to share.

I was glad to see your post. I am researching this family for my neighbor/friend. Her great grandmother is Marie Zenaide Levigne married to Olivier Bastien. I would be very interested in receiving the parents of these two people. and of course their grandparents. Does anyone have pictures?

Olivier Bastien's parents are Joseph Bastien & Etienette Gregoire? I can't get her connected to parents.

Is Alexis Bastien m. to Marie Anne Lemire Olivier's grandparents? and who are the parents of Marie Anne Lemire?

Hi Steve, Although your message about Adolph Lessard was from 5 years ago, I hope you will receive this post. I am a great-granddaughter of Adolph Lessard. He owned the Lessard Hotel and Saloon in Hayward, Wisconsin.

I have written "The Tales of French Pete," and have a prepared a rough draft of the story of my Lessard ancestors.

I would love to receive a copy of the photo of Adolph, etc. on Edouard's front porch!

I recently found and visited one of Edouard's descendants: Don Lessard, formerly of Minnesota, and now lives near Traverse City, MI. He was excited to hear from me and learn of his ancestry going back to Quebec in the 1650s.

I do have a photo of Adolph and his wife, when they went back to Quebec to visit. Other relatives are in the photo--including his parents, Jean-Baptiste Lessard and his wife.

Thank you, Claire Lambert-Lemyre, for you reply to my query. It has helped me to clarify some of the dates and places.

My quest is very complicated. It seems that it may be M. Adelaide Landry who called herself Henriette. This couple, Adolphe Papineau and Henriette Landry immigrate to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin where they are found first in 1857. There I find baptismal records for three children before they return back to Trois Rivieres, Quebec. After the birth of four children in Trois Rivieres, they AGAIN go to Wisconsin, this time to Chilton where several more of their children are born. Their final move is to Oconto, Wisconsin where Adolphe and Henriette live until their early deaths in 1888 and 1889.

After more than 30 years of searching I have not found their marriage and my main quest remains the same – to discover the lineage of Adolphe Papineau. I hope that someday I may find his parents and his place and date of birth, probably 1830-1836.

Thank you so much for the additional information about my gr gr grandfather's death. The post that you attached did appear and it enlarged when I double clicked on it. That in itself was wonderful to see. I am not sure who the two male Greers who's names appear on the death certificate. I found two male Greers on the 1911 census living in Grand-Mere, one of the names match, but I am not sure how they are related to me. I really appreciate all of your help, especially translating the text for me. I try to practice reading and listening to French, but I seem to have less and less opportunity to do so.
