I am searching for the parents of Louis Bastien. He was born around 1807. He married Adele Gravel 2-9-1839 in Tre-Riviere. Adele was the daughter of Pierre Gravel and Mary Ouellet.
Louis immigrated to Wisconsin-U.S.A. in 1865. Any help at all I would be most greatful for! I believe Louis is a Vanasse dit Bastien but cant find the proof without his parents names!
Thank You!!!

re: County of GeneralQuebec Mauricie, Canada query re: Louis Bastien I have in my records mention of a Louis Helie Bastien, born August 7, 1808, probably in Maskinonge. His parents were Alexis Bastien (born 11.26.1772 in Maskinonge) and Marie-Anne Lemire. If this is the right person, his brother Joseph was my ancestor. The major sources I used in assembling this generation of the Bastien family (who were indeed Bastiens dit Vanasse) were the Inventaire des Contrats de Mariage deposes aux Archives nationales de Trois-Rivieres, 1647-1918 (1995) and Pierre Lupien's Repertoire des naissances/baptemes de la paroisse St-Joseph de Maskinonge, 1721-1992 (1994).
Interestingly, Joseph Bastien's son Olivier and his wife Zenaide Levigne were also in Wisconsin in the latter 1860s; they were caught in the great Peshtigo fire of 1871 and moved to upper Michigan. Also present was Olivier's brother Moise, who later returned to Quebec, and possibly another brother, Adelard. Does any of this sound familiar to you?
Thanks!

Hello Sara,
I have verified for you, the Louis Helie Bastien's birth place, you are right, it's Maskinongé. I have found these three different families:
ALEXIS BASTIEN(Alexis Bastien - Marie Grondin) m. 22-02-1802 Maskinongé MARIE-ANNE LEMIRE(Joseph Lemire - M.Anne Lampron)
JOSEPH BASTIEN(François Bastien - Madeleine Ayotte) m. 16-07-1804 Maskinongé MARIE-ANNE LEMIRE(Antoine Lemire - Catherine Lacerte)
JEAN-BAPTISE BASTIEN(Jean-Baptiste Bastien-Vanasse - Josephte Pothier) m. 02-02-1807 Maskinongé MARIE LEMIRE(Louis lemire - Marie Lafrenière)
The answer for Lori is Jean-Baptiste Bastien with Marie Lemire. If I can help you, it will be a pleasure.
