I am seeking a death record for Philomene LESSARD, born 28 May 1839, St-Antoine. Daughter of Syfroid LESSARD and Marie-Seraphine Tessier. I can find no evidence she survived to adulthood. Is there a death/burial record for her?

I need a little more information to make an informed opinion whether we may be talking about the same person. The name is a bit unusual, which is a point in favor. Also, the birth year is within tolerable limits. According to family sources, "my" Philomene" was born 28 May 1839. There is the possibility that that is a baptismal date, however. The place was St-Antoine-de-Padoue.

Can you please provide more information on your Philomene? Have you found her in census records? What is the place of birth? What is the given name of her husband? Judging from the ages of her children, what is a likely marriage date range? Did the family stay in Canada or immigrate to the United States? When and where did she die? Do you have a formal death record with information?

I see the following in the 1881 Canada Census, who might fit. Are any of these, yours?
Antoine and Philomene Bessette (age 43), Ste-Alexandre, Iberville, Quebec
Solyme and Philomene Bessette (age 44), Iberville, Iberville, Quebec
Jean-Baptiste and Philomene Bessette (age 40), Ste-Jean-Baptiste-de-Rouville, Rouville, Quebec.

Merci. Kenneth W. Parent

From the 1881 census of Clapham, Pontiac, Ontario, you can see the family of Etienne Besset who married Philomene Lessard. She is listed as 40. I have more on the Bessette line, but not much on her.

Thank you very much for this information. It arrived as I am leaving on a two week business trip and am somewhat distracted from genealogy. When I return I will look over the information and make a proper reply. Thank you and regards, Kenneth Parent
