I am trying to trace the Surname Villemure in Quebec and/or
back to France. I know for a fact that my Great Grandfather
Louis Villemure lived in Shawinigan, PQ as late as 1894.
My Great Grandmother was Adeline DuPOnt. As best I can
figure they would have been maried on April 12, 1847 or a
few years earlier. I have been told that Villemure is a
dit name for Lefebvre and have been given some information
going back to 1665 in France using the name Lefebvre.
I question some of this information for two reasons. I have
not been able to independently verify any link between
Villemure & Lefebvre nor can I find any listings for Villemure.
Secondly I have an old 1775 French Franc made into a watch fob.
This leads me to suspect that the family originaly came
to Quebec after that date. Also there are Villemures'
Living in France today.
Any help or guidance be most appreciated.

MAURICIE - surname VILLEMURE

I have traced your grandparents Louis VILLEMURE and Adeline Dupont to Joseph LEFEBVRE-VILLEMURE and MAnnee Aplanda(?) PERIGNY. I do not yet have their marriage date nor place. Their son Francois married Scholastique TOUSIGNANT-LAPOINTE in Yamachiche (Quebec) on 1782/11/11.

I have a summary of the descendants of Hoseph LEFEBVRE-VILLEMURE that I could send you in an Excell file. If you can read such a file, send me an e-mail indicating the version of Excell that you have. If you cannot read an Excell file, I could send you a text equivalent.

My maternal grandparents were Aurore VILLEMURE and Wilfrid CHARTIER. They marrier in Trois-Rivieres on 1912/09/23. I have not been able to link my grandparents with yours yet but I am sure there is a connection.

Surnames: Pierre Livernoche, Louis Livernoche, Marie McClure, Felix Livernoche
Looking for the Livernoche Family marriages, and children of said families: The Livernoche men married :
Marie Angelique Chapeau, Petronille Girard, Josette Morand,
Julie Baron-Lafreniere, and my great Grandparents Louis
Livernoche, and Marie McClure. This family definately from
St. Maurice county. I've been unable to locate my ancestors
via the Internet, one generation may have gone by the dit name Martin, Jean Pierre Livernoche may have used the dit name Martin, he married Petronille Girard in 1763 in Trois
Rivieres, I have not been able to locate the ancestors of Petronille Girard.
Pierre Livernoche, and Marie McClure migrated to Connecticut
around 1882-1885, their son, my Grandfather Felix was born
in 1880.
Any help extended will be greatly appreciated, I certainly welcome any bits of information, especially Livernoche kin
who remained in Canada. Merci...Joanne Duval Morgan

Henri - Your posting is very interesting. I am a descendant of Louis Vilmur (name was shortened from Villemure) born in 1814 at Three Rivers, Quebec. He probably emigrated to Assumption, IL between 1861 (birth of son in Canada) and 1870 (appears in U.S. Census). His children were all born in Canada per census records in the U.S.: Albert b. about 1841-3, Norbert Edward (also my ancestor) b. 1843, Elise b. about 1848/9, Simon b. about 1853, Maggie b. about 1854, Eli b. about 1861 and Aleck b. about 1861. Eli and Aleck could be the same person. Norbert emigrated in 1863 per his obituary dated 1932. I don't know who the wife of Louis was or whether she died in Quebec before the family emigrated. Would sure love to find out more about this family and push back into another generation.

We also have a Norbert Vilmur in our family line. He was from Canada, came through Assumption, IL where he was married to Dina (Diana, Dana) Prince and had 4 children.Between 1875 and 1879 they apparently moved to Leicester Twp. Clay Co. Nebraska where another child was born. It seems there was a group of related families that made this trip altogether, mostly all related through the Prince line.
