To add info: Jaddus is married to Amanda (Mandy) Richard in Maine - {from the Maine marriages at ancestry.com} The 1920 Maine census (matching known children and spouse) has him listed as Jacob. The 1930 census in Massachusetts has his first name Jacob. The obits of 2 of his children, the SSDI and the WWll registration all have Jaddus as first name. The WWll registrations and SSDI both have the same birth date. I am following his son Joseph Ernest back into time and need help to find his line.

Thank you for any help.

I have been researching my husbands family history. It to goes back to Roger Caissie from Ireland. Do you have any information about Roger in Ireland? I have also come to a standstill at Raphael Caissie, born 1808, I think he had a son Joseph born between 1841 and 1845. One of Joseph's children would be my husbands great grandfather. Any help would be appreciated.

Roger Quessy

Our first ancestor in New France was Roger Casey. All of my life I had to explain to people on St Pat's day that we weren't Irish. we were Frenchmen from Quebec. Guess what, If you go back far enough, you can be surprised. We were Irish after all. And Acadian besides.

Roger, a young Irishman, was not only the first of our ancestors to come to Acadia, he is also the first known Irishman to settle in New France. It is thought that Roger left home due to unrest in his native Ireland. He arrived at Port-Royal, Acadia around 1665. We do not as yet know under what circumstances. He, his wife Marie, and first child are found on the 1671 Port Royal, census.

It seems that when the English began to deport the Acadians in 1755, Roger's grandson Jean and family took to the woods and wound up in Batiscan, P-Q. My Great Grandfather, Pierre Quessy, was raised and owned land in Ste-Genevieve de Batiscan. Many Quessy can still be found within 50 miles of where they originally settled near Trois-Rivieres. I have many of the names of their families and offspring. It turns out there are cousins all over the world, not just the in the US.

Certain members of the third generation settled in Quebec or New Brunswick. Others were deported to Pennsylvania and South Carolina. Still others migrated either to Louisiana or to France. (this means we have Cadjun cousins also)

Oh yes, I have also been in touch with a cousin in New Brunswick who has been our chief historian. Another lives in Australia and is from a branch that was deported to France and made their way to Australia by way of the Seychelles Islands. Recently I have been corresponding with a "Quesis" who lives in Uruguay. It seem his ancestors were among those exiled Acadians who opted to go there from France in the late 1700s.

I have about 3500 Quessy, Caissie and Casey in my data base. I will share with any one who would like or who has Quessy in their past.

Richard Casey (Quessy)
Las Vegas, NV

Thanks for your help. I was aware of the names of the churches but not that the villages were so close to each other that Alexis and Euphrosine could travel around for their children's baptisms. Perhaps someone with access to the Batiscan church records could find the rest of their children's baptisms for me? The big problem I have is trying to find the parents of a man recorded as "Samuel" or "Sein" or "Louis" who was here at the same time as Alexis and may have been his eldest son. Samuel 's birth date is 1820 in Quebec, just one year after Alexis' marriage in Batiscan at Saint Francois-Xavier. Any help on this would be greeted with whoops of joy!

Alexander died March 31, 1873 in Lafontaine at the age of 44, so I assume that he was born around 1829-30. I have not been able to locate any birth records for him and do not have his parents names. Most families who settled this area in the 1840's were from the Batiscan area. Any help would be gratefully received!
Madame,

Seeking additional information on Joseph Orphire Robert Fugère and first wife Zoe Despins, and their children. They were married 25 Jun 1867 at Ste-Genevieve-de-Batiscan. I am looking for a date/place of birth and death for Zoe - she was born c. 1846 to Louis Despins and Adelaide Thibault. I have four children listed: Louis - 1871 [married 1889 to Odile Normandin, 4 children that I know of]. Adolphe - 1872, Philomene - 1874 and Rosalie - 1879 [married Ernest Hamelin 1895]. Would like exact dates for them as well. The family lived in St-Luc, Champlain. Would appreciate additional details on any of these individuals

This puts him in the same area as your ancestors Louis & family. Could they be from the same family, same parents ,same grandparents, etc.
Please advise me if you have any info in regards to Alfreds ancestry. Any information would help, as I havent been able to find any relatives of Alfred.
Thank you very much........Tom
