I'm trying to find my Canadian family connection. I've located My Great Grand Father in Keeseville, NY. He immigrated to the USA between the time he was born, approx. 1847 and the time he had his first born 1868. His name was Joseph Circe dit St. Michel but choose to go by St. Michel and the next generation choose Mitchell. He May of had a brother named Adolphes, who went by Adolphes Circe. I don't know my Great Great Grandfathers first name. Any information that I could tie this family with their Canadian roots and possibly their French roots would be appreciated. I believe they may have been from the QuebecLaurentides region.

My Great Great grandfather was named Napolean, born in 1867 in Keesville, NY. He had 3 brothers named Edmond, John, and Louis. His father was named Oliver, born around 1831. Maybe Oliver and Joseph were related, I have little information before that.

Hi,
saw your message on the Quebec Laurentides Web. I am a St-Michel myself, but not of the same origin than you. In my research I sometimes saw the name Circé dit St-Michel. Here are two marriages that I had with that name :

1. St-Michel-Circé, Francois (Francois & Côté Jos.), married to Pret-à-boire-Barbier, Marie (Francois & Auger Cath.), le 16 janvier 1844 à St-Ours, Qc.

2. St-Michel-Circé, Narcisse (Julien & Dupuis Cath.), married to Descarie, M.-Exilda (Jean & Lanthier M-Lse), le 13 février 1866 à Notre-Dame de Montréal, Qc.

Hope it helps.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Wish you good results in your genenalogical research in the year 2000.

"Salutations amicales"

Lucie

I think he was born in 1847 in St Phillippe, La Prairie, Quebec (near Montreal) and he died in 1891 in Keeseville NY.
