I have just found out that a relative of mine name Antoine
Jones was born in Carillon Quebec about 25 kms, south of
Lachute, Quebec. He would have been born in Carillon around
1846-50,his parent's are said to be Elias Jones and Emilie
Ladouceur. If you may have any information on this family, and perhaps the name of the catholic church which
they may have attended. Is there a catholic church in
Carillon?.This family at one time moved up river to Pembroke, Ontario. Thankyou Bernie

According to "History of Counties of Argenteuil Quebec and Prescot Ontario" published in 1896:

"Carillon, even for a country village, is remarkably quiet; a bakery and a carpenter shop comprising all its manufactories. It has neithr church, minister, or lawyer, and but one store. The Roman Catholics attend their church at St. Andrews, and the Protestants the different deno, inational services of the same place..."

Many thanks!! Elizabeth McNeil and Charles Ladouceur
were my great aunt and uncle. I remember their daughter
Yvonne and her sisters Lucile Doran and Madeline
Christie. Any additional information about the family would
be greatly appreciated. Elizabeth's sister Mary Ann
McNeil Taillon was my grandmother. The prime object of
my search is my great grandparents Malcolm McNeil and
Rose McGiveney. My sincerest appreciation!!

I'm intersted in Elizabeth McNeils family.

I'm researching McNeils in Argenteuil County. My ancestors are related to Hugh (b 1791 in Antrim Co, Ireland) and his children, as well as Philip (b 1812), David (b. 1819), James (b 1820), Margaret (Mrs. James Mulvena, b abt 1826), and Isabella (b 1827, Mrs James Reid). Many moved to Alpena, MI, where I grew up, in the 1860s to 1880s.
