General Cemetery of Harrington

My great grandmother, Sarah Ellen Dewar Smith was buried in 1910 by the Anglican Rector of Grenville in the "General Cemetery of Harrington". I know Shaw's Protestant Cemetery in Harrington fairly well and I am aware that there are cemeteries at Rivington and Lost River. The Dewar Family lived for several generations at the family farm at Rang 4 Lot 14 (now on Ch. Johnson). Sarah's nephew's and nieces are buried at Shaw's, but I have not found a record or a headstone for Sarah here. Does anyone know if "General Cemetery of Harrington" and Shaw's are the same place? Any help would be appeciated.

Merci Jacynthe,
For the link from the Labelle site to the list of cemeteries in Argenteuil. There is no listing for a "general"
P cemetery so at this point I will assume the cemetery in question is the Harrington (Shaw's) Protestant Cemetery until I get other information to the contrary. I will renew my search for a burial record or headstone for Sarah Ellen Dewar Smith at Shaw's.

Hmmmmmmmm!
I wouldn't bet my life on that particular list.
It doesn't even include the Protestant cemetery in Lachute.

I am wondering if you might be referring to the Glen (of Harrington) Cemetery, just south of Weir??

I was not aware of the Glen Cemetery in Harrington. I will try and find a list of burials there and will visit the next time I am in the area. Thanks for the lead.

sometime in the spring of 2014, I will be going back to Weir, Quebec and the Glen of Harrington Cemetery to photograph all the gravemarkers there. If there is any marker you would like a picture of, e-mail me and I will send it to you and anyone who wants.

Thanks for your kind offer. If you see headstones for any members of the DEWAR (Roderick and Donald especially) family I would appreciate photos of them but I am specifically looking for Sarah Ellen Smith nee Dewar died 1910 and her husband William Henry Smith died after 1907. I also hope to get to the cemetery near Weir sometime in the summer of 2014. Spring looks a long way away at this point but I look forward to anything you might find. Thanks again.

Hi, I hope you can open this site, it's a list of cemeteries in Harrington, Quebec. If you can open, scroll down a bit until you see "Glen Cemetery, (Lakeview). This is the one I was telling you about. There are no gravestone pictures on this site, but, it does tell you where it is. Hope this helps you.
