Location of St. Ambroise de Kildare?
I have been researching ancestors from Saint Ambroise de Kildare. From various sources I was under the belief that St. Ambroise de Kildare was in Joiliette County, however recent correspondece with the National Archives of Canada has indicated that the county is Berthier. Can anyone help me out here? I am getting ready to view census records through interlibary loan and want to be sure that I am ordering the right reel.

Re: Location of St. Ambroise de Kildare?
You are right, it is in Joliette County, unless they recently redrew the line and incorporated it into Berthier. If you're looking before 1901, it's probably in Joliette unless the Archives put it in with its neighboring parishes in Berthier of St-Gabriel, St-Norbert etc. I'd check Joliette first. Good Luck, Dennis Boudreau

Re: Records of St. Ambroise de Kildare
Patrick, would the records be births and marriages only? The ancestor that I have been stuck on for some time is EPHRAIM BRUNEAU. He came to Superior, Wisconsin in or about 1860, his death cert lists his place of birth as St Ambroise de Kildare, father as ANTOINE BRUNEAU and no mother is listed at all. I have been suspecting that his parents are ANTOINE BRUNEAU and EULALIE FLEURIE, however I have not been able to confirm this. I had a volunteer do a look up of this marriage for me and was told that Antoine and Eulalie were married in Maskinonge (?) and not St Ambroise de Kildare. Do you know anything about either place; are they near each other or somehow connected? Any assistance that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Kelly

Patrick, in my previous reply post I forgot to mention that Ephraim was born in or about 1840, possibly October.

Re: Records of St. Ambroise de Kildare
I have the Birth, Marriage and Death records for St-Ambroise-de-Kildare but there is no record in them of any of your names. I even checked the neighboring parishes of St-Jacques and Rawdon. There was a Remi Bruneau and Zoe Fleury who had children there in 1841, 1843, 1844 ( a bit of a coincidence). The only other place that a child born there might be baptized in is in Joliette, but I don't have the records for there. By the way Zoe died in 1844 after the birth of the last child. I see no difficulty with the marriage taking place in Maskinonge (near Trois Rivieres) and the couple moving to or living in St-Ambroise (north of Montreal). I am sorry that I couldn't be of more help--best of luck Patrick

Re: Records of St. Ambroise de Kildare
Have been looking at the baptism repertory of St-Ambroise-de-Kildare. There is no Ephraim Bruneau listed. There is no Antoine Bruneau listed as father.

Re: Records of St. Ambroise de Kildare
Roger, Thanks for taking the time to try and search for the parents of my elusive Ephraim Bruneau. It looks as though this is going to cost me! The FCGSS in Quebec has answered an inquiry of mine - they have searched their records and have found the names of Ephraim's parents (not Eulalie Fleury and Antoine Bruneau as I suspected) however I need to send $40 for the info or $210 for a 4 generational tree! Oh well, I will hold out a little while longer in hopes of finding the info myself for free! Thanks again.

Re: Records of St. Ambroise de Kildare
Does anyone know how I can go about receiving a photographic copy of a record from 1844 in this parish? Thank you, Joni Fortier
