Jean Baptiste Forget Dit Latour is my Great Great Grand Father. His son my great grandfather Gilbert Semer Forget moved to rice lake wisconsin and subsequently minnesota where i currently reside. Gilbert Semer Forget had a Son named Gilbert James Forga. I'm not sure why or how the name changed from Latour Dit Laforge and then changed to Latour dit forget and then to eventually forga in my family. Does anyone have any info on why the name has changed so much? I would really like to learn of my relatives and connect with them.

Based on what I see on the Web, we are not talking about the same person. Your Gilbert Forga (born 1878, right?) seems to have been the son of Jean Forget and Julie Lépine, married in 1859 in Coopersville, NY.

This Jean Forget was the son of Pierre Forget and Marie Verrette, married in 1827 in Sainte-Elizabeth, Joliette county, Québec. Pierre Forget was the son of Simon Forget and Marie Fréchette.

As to Forget/Forga, note that the final t is silent in French. When French-Canadians emigrated to the USA, especially to places that were mostly English speaking (i.e. as opposed to places in New England with large concentrations of French-Canadian immigrants) they tended to either translate their names (e.g. Greenwood, Shortsleave, etc...) or change the spelling.
