Merci Suzette Leclair, for the prompt reply and adjustment, le deuxieme Excusez-moi. From the Index (both LDS and Ancestry) for 1794 Baptemes, there is a short note about an old repertoire and lost folios from the register. The page numbers you refered to (renumbered), and a few more out of sequence have acts dated in 1794 (some in error) but only 16 of 19 such page numbers are marked on the index, with the 19 viewable in the registers. The other 24, plus one marriage contract are shown there and at PRDH. However it would seem these two dozen names exist only in the index. That said, all those early years of St. Roch had over 100 acts, so these 41 acts for 1794 stand out as an anomaly, but how to explain it? It is not clear from that note that the names indexed there are a complete and full list from that old repertoire or indeed if that repertoire was itself complete. I will of course be looking at St. Jacques and elsewhere for clues, and getting feed-back from others. Thank you again.

First of all, I corrected the title of your post, as it is pertaining to a different subject, that being the birth record of Francois Bertrand in St-Roch-de-l'Achigan...

Second, I was not aware of any missing parish register pages from 1793 to 1795. So I had a quick look at the parish register for the period of 1787 to 1797. The year 1793 starts at page/Folio 63 (Drouin 71/128)and ends at page 74, and not one page is missing during that period. And the year 1794 starts on page/Folio 75, with a marriage record dated April 29, 1794, and ends on page/Folio 78, with a baptism record dated in October 1794, and again, not a single page is missing. But some months are missing, obviously.

As to the reasons why some months are missing from the register while not a single page is missing, I have no way of knowing.

The only thing that I'm aware of, is that a new priest, Father Charles Joseph Lefebvre Duchouquet, took over in January 1793, from the previous curate, Antoine Desforges, and he stayed in St-Roch up to 1796.

It is quite possible that the records of the missing months can be found in the registers of a nearby parish, such as St-Jacques-de-l'Achigan. That was common practice in those days, particularly if the priest was responsible for more than one parish.

The publication for St-Roch-de-l'Achigan makes no mention of a particular problem with the parish registers for the period in question.

Suzette Leclair,
Board Admin

Excusez-moi, Suzanne Leclair. I believe you previously posted elsewhere regarding St. Roch de l'Achigan as part of Lanaudiere region, but as this is more recent, hello. Perhaps you can assist me regarding the missing registers for 1794. I can see from the Index at Family Search, and comparing with PRDH that about 40 acts are recorded from some old repertoire but that many pages are missing. I can also differentiate which of them are the 20 or so acts which are actually viewable acts and which are not. So I can see there are some missing months. Although any information about this will be immensely helpful, in particular I would like to know if there is any reason to suspect that this mission/parish was closed for any portion of that year. It is clear it was open for the full year in 1793 and 1795 (with well over 100 acts each year). I am trying to put a little more accuracy into the likely baptism of Francois Bertrand (1793-1795) s/o Joachim Bertrand and Marie Josephte Morin at this parrish, probably the next child of that couple born after the death of their first Francois (only 5 days old) at St. Roch in Oct 1792. Since 1793 and 1795 seem to be full and complete, and he isn't there, 1794 seems a likely suspect.

Regards and respect,
Robert Herman

Bonne recherche

Claire Lambert

Her name was Eleonore and she was married to my Grandfather Alexis Mailhotte aka Felix Mayotte. She was born in 1833 and married in 1861. Have been able to find only one child, a son born in in 1863. There is a Therriault in the articles I have been able to find about her but I don't not know their relationship to her.
Hi, Brian,
I haven't found any evidence that Lazare is the son of Jean-Baptiste and Elizabeth Clement. However, in the marriage registration for Lazare's marriage it states his brother-in-law Felix Martel is present, who is married to his (also illegitimate) sister Marie Adele. This is my husband's line, his mother is a Dubois. Hope this helps.

I am also a decendent of David Munn, but like most others I find it impossible to trace him. David Munn and Mathilda Richard are my 3rd great grandparents. Medric had a brother named Camille who was born in 1854, this would be my great great grandfather. He had a son named Joseph, who is my great grandfather, and my grandfather is Darrel Anthony Munn. I am looking for any help in figuring out this line of my family tree. I have no problem with Camille's wife Felicide Brouillard, as she is really easy to trace, but when it comes to his famil I am stuck. Any help would be great.
Rachel Depa
Rachel.Depa@hotmail.com

Lanaudière is a region, north of Montréal. The term is relatively recent, so it would be unlikely to have been used in an old family bible.

Looking for Nancy and Louisa SHEFFER (sisters). I have info that in an old family Bible Nancy's birthplace is "Launadale" Canada; another source states birthplace is Canada East. Trying to find alternature spellings, since "Launadale" is non-existent. Knowing that Canada East is Quebec, I came upon Lanaudiere Quebec....and wondered if Launadale is an "English version" of Lanaudiere (or that's how someone wrote it in the Bible?). Is Lanaudiere a town, region, or what? Any suggestions on how to narrow my search for this family?
Thank you. Margaret

Hoping for lookup. Marie Ladouceur, parents were Simon Ladouceur and Marie Guilbault who were married at St Paul, Joliette, July 7 1814. Two siblings also born at St Paul, Simon, b&d 1815, Rose b 1821. Other siblings born at St Jacques, Montcalm. Second Simon-1819, Pierre, 1823,Louise,b&d 1825,Francois X, 1826, Prosper, b&d 1829.
Marie was living at St Alphonse de Kildare in 1843, just before she married a widower, Julien Menard at St Melanie in 1843. She was his third wife. They had five children before they moved to Monroe Michigan soon after my great Grandfather Julius was born in 1851. In 1860 Michigan census, Marie is a widow, age 40 with 8 childrn. Julien had died in 1858. My guess is she was born about 1820, but where? I have checked L'Assumption and St Elizabeth as well. If you see Marie Ladouceurs' baptism on your hunts please let me know. Thank you, Suzanne

Re: Charles DUNN m. Rebecca LOGIE ~ Lac Maskinonge, St-Gabriel de Brandon, Lanaudiere, Quebec

I am a descendant of Edward Armstrong and Elizabeth Dunn. Eizabeth was the daughter of Charles Dunn and Rebecca Logie. I have a fairly complete family tree plus some early documentation of settlements near St. Gabriel de Brandon and Lac Maskinonge. Edward and Elizabeth's son, Charles Logie Armstrong was my great great great grandfather. I have letters and documents written by him, plus many letters written by his son and grandson in the 19th century. What would you like to know?

I can also trace my family on my mother's side to the 1611 Charbonneau/Grenier marriage. Would like to hear from you and any other who may have the mentioned surnames.

Pat:
You and I have corresponded before. I relate to these folks in that they are all descendents of one Chas. Francois Denis
De Laronde, my gr, gr, gr grandfather. I am presently compiling a genealogy of all his descendents (that I can find that is).
I beleive you also belong to our Drummond/Penetang group, right?
Isabelle
