I am researching the original settlers of St. Gabriel de Brandon in the county of Lanaudierre. Charles Dunn married Rebecca Logie, his sons Charles and William Dunn settled on Lac Maskinonge with their wives Elizabeth Hibbard and Isabella McCraw prior to 1820. Elizabeth Dunn settled their with husband David Armstrong, Isabella Dunn with husband Edward Armstrong, Margaret Dunn with husband Robert Turner, Hector Dunn with wife Helene Beland (daughter of Joseph Beland and Theresa Lamarre from same area). I am at a dead end and would like to communicate with anyone working on these families.

I'm not working on these families, But I had seen
something related to your questions. There's a book written
in 1917 by G. Ducharme talking about those peoples:
Histoire de St-Gabriel-de-Brandon et de ses démembrements.
It sais that the first settler was David Armstrong in 1818. And the same year others came: John and Simon Hibbart,
James and George Remington. Also Thomas Doyle and his french wife Marie Turgeon. In 1820 Simon Elliott, Charles and Hector Dunn, Josiah, Timothy and John Page, came
there too.
There's map showing each of the farm beside the lake.

If you want to know more about it let me know. Will see
what we can do.

I am a descendant of Edward Armstrong and Elizabeth Dunn. Eizabeth was the daughter of Charles Dunn and Rebecca Logie. I have a fairly complete family tree plus some early documentation of settlements near St. Gabriel de Brandon and Lac Maskinonge. Edward and Elizabeth's son, Charles Logie Armstrong was my great great great grandfather. I have letters and documents written by him, plus many letters written by his son and grandson in the 19th century. What would you like to know?

I just came across your message. Could you possibly help me with my ancestors.
Charles Dunn and Rebecca Logie are my 5th great grandparents on my mother's
side.

I have been unable to locate much information about them and their descendents.

Thank you,
