I am looking for info on one Martin Monette, and his wife Georgette Laboissiere. He may have come from France to fight with Montcalm in the French/Indian Wars of 1755.
I have info to believe that a son, Michel, may have been born in or near Berthierville. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thank-you,
L:)

For the county of Berthier, Quebec. To Joyce Matteau, I hope I don't lead you in the wrong direction. I am a Monette from North Dakota whose ancestors were originally from France then Quebec. My Grandfather, Joseph, was the son of Gregorie Monette from Quebec who moved to Manitoba and married a Native American from Manitoba. About the time that you are referring to, there was a lady named Marguerite Monette who married Louis Riel, a Metis, was a prominent citizen from the Winnipeg area that led an uprising against the Canadian Government. She was my Grandfather's aunt. I also remember my Grandfather speaking of a relative named Rosalie who may also have been an aunt. You may want to search Manitoba history. Hopefully I was able to help some. Good luck.

Hello Robert,
Thank you for answering my post. I also thank you for the info.I have been looking at Manitoba and Berthier County, PQ., the Richelieu, and Atlantic Provinces, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Quebec, Ontario, Acadie et.al. I'm finding all kinds of info about my other ancestral lines, but Rosalie & Olivier, have largely remained a mystery. My grandmother, Hermine, and her tribal affilliation is also still a mystery. This is what I found out recently from another researcher who very kindly, did a lookup for me in the Big Drouin in Montreal:
"Olivier Benoit Dit Livernois s/o Joseph Olivier
Benoit dit Livernois & Marie-Anne Gregoire m.on 03
Mar 1851 at St-Valentin(Iberville) to Rose Monette
dite Laverdure d/o Paul & Rose Trahan."
****************************************************
"Hippolitte Monet s/o Francois & Marie-Reine
Remillard m.on 13 Jan 1817 at L'Acadie to Rose
Trahan d/o Jean-Baptiste & Marie Clouatre."
****************************************************
"Joseph-Francois Monet s/o Francois & Josephte
Surprenant on 18 Oct 1790 at L'Acadie to Marie-Reine
Remillard d/o Joseph & Marie-Clothilde Lapierre."
****************************************************
"Francois Monette dit Laverdure s/o Francois &
Elisabeth Dumontet m.on 16 Feb 1767 at St Philippe
to Marie-Josephte Surprenant d/o Joseph & Genevieve
Lamarre."
****************************************************
"Francois Monette s/o Francois & Marie Dumas m.on
05 May 1732 at Laprairie to Marie-Elisabeth Dumontet
d/o Jean & Isabelle Casse."
****************************************************
"Joseph-Olivier Benoit dit Livernois s/o Michel &
Archange Gagne(Gagnier) m.on 25 Nov 1822 at
Chateauguay to Marie-Anne Gregoire widow of Antoine
Monet."
****************************************************
"Michel Benoit s/o Francois & Marie-Anne Janot dite
Lachapelle m.on 10 Jan 1785 at Beloeil to Archange
Gagnier d/o Joseph & Josephte Lavigne."
****************************************************
"Francois Benoit dit Livernois s/o Francois &
Catherine Fontaine m.12 Nov 1751 at St Charles(which
one??) to Marie-Anne Janot d/o Nicolas Jeannot &
Jeanne Sene(?)."
****************************************************
"Francois Benoit s/o Francois & Angelique Changnon
m.20 Feb 1730 at Vercheres to Catherine Fontaine d/o
Pierre & Marguerite Gentes."
****************************************************
This brings us to below 1730,the balance,I'm
told,is easy, from 1730 back to the start of the
Colony is available in Drouin.
Rosalie Monette's father,Hipolitte,had six
siblings:
Claire,Flavie,Francois,Marie-Reine,Pelagie,and
Rose.I found them at:
http://genweb.net~hebert/db1/gOOOO851.htm
When I was a little girl,my father would tell me
about his travels around the U.S.,during the 1920's
& '30's. He went everywhere,including the
Dakotas, and everywhere he went there was family to
stay and visit with. He would work and visit and
move on. That's why I've been looking for info in
the places I mentioned above and
others,Louisiana,Maine,New York,Vermont,the
Carolinas....My ancestors and thier descendants are
all over this great country. I'm having the best
time putting the pieces of this huge puzzle, that is
my family, together. Should you recognize any of my
ancestors as yours, please let me know? Any
corrections or additions or questions are most
welcome. Joyce Matteau

Surnames: Boucher, Desjardins
I see by your surname list that you are also researching Desjardins. My great grandfather was Joseph Desjardins. The only information I have on him is that he was supposedly born in probably Quebec and that in 1883 he married Philomene Boucher in Chicago, Illinois. At the time he was 35 years old and she was 24. If you know of this family I would certainly appreciate hearing from you.
Thank You,
