Hi,

I found a baptism record for François Hertel born in Trois-Rivières. I'm a member of Ancestry.ca and I can't use the link you sent.

But I will give you the translation of the Baptism record found for François Hertel :

The third of July 1642, I, Jean de Brébeuf, of the Society of Jesus, at the Immaculate Conception's parish of Three Rivers, have baptized the infant of Jacob Hertel and of Mary Marguerie, his wife. The child was named François. Francisca Marguerie was the person who carried the baby. The sponsors were John Nicolet and Margarita Couillar.

Thank you muchly, I guess that link was on my ancestry account, sorry about that. Can i safely assume that the father ( Jacob ) was a derivative of the name Jacques back then?

Hi again,

Like the other member I confirm that Jacob is Jacques in French.
