Re: Looking for Justin W. Wilson - Levis, Quebec
Hi Don:
Justin was married to Maria Theresa Canney (Cannez, Conwey).
The couple gave birth to Marie-Clara Alice, born 27 Apr in Lévis, bapt. 4 May 1906.
Justin died on 17 May 1906 in Levis, buried on 20 May 1906 in Levis (Notre-Dame-de-la-Victoire), Buried in Cemetery Mont-Marie. (my mother happens to be buried in the same cemetary).
Note that his daughter was born 3 weeks earlier.
Maria Theresa remarried on 23 Jun 1912 at St. Patrick's Church in Québec City, to Hyacinthe Beaulieu, widower of Philomène Patry.
Justin and Maria may have been married in Québec via a marriage licence (civil marriage). I will have a look at that listing upon my next visit to my gen. society.

Re: Looking for Justin W. Wilson - Levis, Quebec
Hello John Thank you so very much for responding so quickly regarding Justin who was a bit of a bad boy when he lived in Rhode Island and running away to Levis from his wife while she tried to divorce him for adultery. He was very hard to find after 1901 because of this.
Any further information would be grateful. I will now be able to post his memorial now in Findagrave,. All that is left is to find a volunteer to take a photo of the grave marker, if any.
Again, thank you so very much for this.

Re: Looking for Justin W. Wilson - Levis, Quebec
Hi Don:
You might want to call or send an email to the Cimetière Mont-Marie. They would probably be able to let you know the location of the resting place of Justin and whether there is a stone or not. I will probably visit my regretted mother resting place next month.

Re: Looking for Justin W. Wilson - Levis, Quebec
Hello again Jean-Marie
I'm a bit concerned as my brother-in-law who lives in Maine and is also from Quebec translated the death information from the church which is recorded here in Ancestry a bit differently. He read that Justin Wilson died 10 September at the Hotel-Dieu de Quebec and was married to a Minnie Leanez. This is a bit different from what you told me. The confusing part was that the record showed he was in his 40's when my Justin would be closer to 57.
Could there be more than one Justin Wilson and he is translating the wrong info? Sorry for troubling you.

Re: Looking for Justin W. Wilson - Levis, Quebec
Hello Jean-Marie
I heard back from the cemetery. There is a Justin Wilson there, but there is no marker as he is buried in the common ground area since he had no family to report other thn the wife. The email stated also: " Husband of Minnie Cannez. Died at the Hotel-Dieu de Lévis the May 17, 1906 at the age of 45 years. Buried on 20 May to cimetieere Mont-Marie ." The dates mach what you gave me, but the wife's name is different. They also say he was 45, but my Justin was born in 1849 making him 57. This is getting interesting. Enjoy your week. Don

Re: Looking for Justin W. Wilson - Levis, Quebec
Hi Don:
You will note that in my first reply, I have mentioned three ways of writing Maria Theresa's surnames as found in three records:
When she remarried her surname from the record was transcribed as Canney.
When her husband died, her surname was transcribed as Cannez.
In her daughter's birth record, her surname was transcribed as Conwey.
These are the readings made by people who have looked at the records for the purposes of producing repertories of deaths, births and marriages.
There is no doubt in my mind that this is your Justin.
With regard to the age of Justin at the time of his death, it was reported by someone and this is waht the celebrant wrote. Was it accurated? His birth record would be necessary to validate it.

Re: Looking for Justin W. Wilson - Levis, Quebec
Jean-Marie Thanks for your reassurance about Justin and I know you are correct even more so since I found more info that helps understand more about Justin. First, I did find with some help, what appears to be Justin's parents, David Wilson and Mary A. Mitchell getting married in 1848 in Durham, Quebec. Mary's mother, Samantha Mitchell was her witness. Now Justin is born in 1849 somewhere in Quebec as his many census record's show.
Of course, David and Mary are married not too long for whatever reason as Mary (back to Mitchell) and 11 year old Justin are back in VT with her parents.
On 14 Jan 1866, Mary Ann ( now Wilson), marries J. D. Davis in Sheldon, VT. Overall, Justin marries 3 times before he dies. Like I said, his story for me is complete and I owe alot to your help to confirm he was in Levis and what happened after. So thank you one last time. Don
