I need help finding a marriage registry for them. I found them in the 1861 Chichester census, they had a 10 year old son at that time. presumably they married about 1849- 1850. Any help would be great. I've been searching but I'm stuck.

Lynn:

I cannot find this marriage record in BMS2000, neither marriage records for their descendants.

Fogarthy: is the spelling correct.

Chichester is a village that did not have a parish. Even if they were married in a surrounding town, the info would appear in BMS2000. My Gen. Society is responsible for this region and all data for the Québec town have been captured.

Any more hints for Jean-Baptiste etc.?

I found a death for Mary Anne Fogarty, wife of Jean A Gagnon, died 1916, Sheenboro (no clue if that's in the right area). It seems to say she was 89 years old, but is not very clear. http://mediasvc.ancestry.ca/v2/thumbnail/namespaces/1091/med...

Hi Jean-Marie,
They could have been married in Ontario. At this point I'm just not sure. I've been searching and searching without any new information regarding their marriage. I've found plenty of census for their family, and some birth registries.

I did find that registry, and it's for her. Sheenboro is right next door to Chichester.

I suspect that Catholic marriages for the 1850 period could be in the Diocese of Pembroke.

What do you think?

Hi Lynn:

I have found marriage records for 4 children of this couple:

Edward, Marie-Anna, Angus, and Francois. All married in Chapeau, Québec.

JB (John) and Marie-Anne may have been married in Pembrooke, a bordering town in Ontario. This is were résidents of the region of Chichester and Sheenboro were married before Chapeau was well established. However,, I believe that the registry in Chapeau commences in 1845.
I will have a look at the marriage repertory of Pembrooke upon my next visit to my gen. Society.
