I guess people should check maps more often to be sure they have the correct geographical location before posting questions. BTW, I didn't post the question.

Have a great day, Dennis

Alexandre Bourgeois was son of Raymond Bourgeois and Esther Bourgeois of Cheticamp, NS. He was born at Havre-Aubert on 23 May 1845. Raymond (s/o Jean & Angelique Poirier) and Esther (d/o Jean & Marie Chiasson) were married at Cheticamp on 24 Nov 1829. They are both of ACADIAN origin.

Please stop this incessant quest for "ABORIGINAL" ancestry. We're dealing with people of French Acadian-European ancestry, which can be proven by mtDNA results! Raymond and Esther stopped at the Magdalens for about a decade where seven of their eleven children were born, before moving on to Sandy Point, NF.

For further on Raymond and Esther, please visit the Bourgeois Family Genforum at genealogy.com, where I have answered others who share your ancestry.
From my own research:

Bruno Bourque (captain of L'Acadien II) was son of Willie and Jacqueline (Huet) Bourque.

His mother is daughter of Ephrem Huet à Azade à Placide à François). As I said, we are all related to each other, thanks to our common ancestors.

Dennis

Hi Odile and readers,

I know all about this tragedy and have been following the newspapers all week. If you're expecting me to trace out the genealogies of these men for you, please don't, as I have very incomplete information on them. Suffice it to say that all the Island Acadians from this area are related to some degree just a few generations back, and you (and I, also descended from the Huets and Deraspes) are probably related somehow to these families.

Our sincere condolences and prayers go out to the families of the victims of this tragedy which occured last Saturday (March 29th & 30th) evening in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. As Madelinot descendants, it affects all of us, who are their extended family in both Canada and in the United States.

With deepest sympathy, Dennis Boudreau

Melissa,

You should really post this at the BOUDREAU message board, and not here, since this couple have nothing to do with the Magdalen Islands of Quebec, for which this board was created. If posting here was to get my attention, I check the other board daily as well as the Boudreau genforum, as well as am administrator of this board.

Additionally, no Magdalen Islanders (except for one or two that I knew of personally, an Arseneau and a Theriault) had any connections to the State of New York. A better bet would be to target the Boudreaus in the Richelieu River valley (Quebec), just over the border from the northern boundary of the state of New York, from which this family undoubtedly descends.

Dennis Boudreau
