I checked my obit collection and although I have some Magdalen Island obituaries back to about 2001, I do not have his. Mine predominantly start in 2002-2003. At the time, the English and French communities of the Islands were pretty much separate entities, and since the predominant population was French, mostly French family records appeared in the French bi-weekly newspaper, Le Radar. Those English islanders who moved off-island appeared predominantly in the newspapers of PEI and Nova Scotia. I do know that a small English newspaper was started, The First Informer, but I think only in 2004. I do not know if it still exists or not.
I do know who Clarence is, however: a son of Charles Clarke and Violet Richards. I have his birth information (according to the parish baptismal registers) as 17 Feb 1919 (rather than 7 Feb), and he had 13 siblings. Sorry I could not be of more help. Perhaps writing to the Council for Anglophone Magdalen Islanders (CAMI) could be of help in locating the obituary. They are at:
