MalBay had Anglo settlers in the 1780s: Lucas and Mabe of "American" origin, a few were perhaps Scot (Johnston, McPherson, Sutherland), and a few appears more probably English, such as Churchward, Element, Hunt, and Dappe, Tapp, Tappe, or Tope. The Irish (Barry McSweeney, Molony) and Channel Islanders: Girard, de Saint-Croix would soon join them around Pt St Peter (Pointe-Saint-Pierre).
Some Anglo settlers would have been ex-military men, organized by Cox from 1784. Surely, the settlers did not travel alone without associates. An evidential link may exist to tie some of these men together.
Wondering whether any one has postulated a link between some of the settlers, say, e.g., Joseph Element and Thomas Tapp?
