Archibald Clark Kerr IV, 1881 Census Ste-Adelaide-de-Pabos, Gaspe, Quebec
My husband's grandmother, Mary Ann Kerr, was born 21 July 1862? to Archibald Clark Kerr IV and Mary Ann or Moira or Moyra ? in Pabos according to family. Family says that they had a salmon company, hotel and telegraph office across the Medapedia ? River from Perce'. Are there city directories or published books about that area that might have some information regarding this family or earlier census that might list them as a means of finding info about ancestry? They are listed at the above site in the 1881 census with Archibald widowed at that time. Would appreciate any help that I can get, particularly as I know no french and so am at a definite disadvantage.

She married in Ste-Adélaïde-de-Pabos on may 31 1882 Zéphirin Beaudin (Thomas-Amyot and Angélique Roussy). Witnesses were: Pierre Mauger, Rachel Roussy, Zéphirin Beaudin, William Brotherton, Robert Mauger, Josué Paradis, priest. Her mother had passed away at that time. Archibald was not present.
Zéphirin was b. GR may 17 1856, B. the same day, d. GR april 1 1917, e. the 4th. He was a merchant in Grande-Rivière. I do not have kids for them.

This appears to be my Archibald. Do you have any info on his ancestry. I know that he went by Archibald Clark Kerr, the Fourth, so I assume that his father might be Archibald Clark Kerr the Third but have no proof of that. If this is my Archibald, his daughter Mary Ann married a David Thivierge (family history says Quebec or Ontario)and had son who died shortly after birth in the United States as well as daughters Petronella Mae, Alice Marie and Josephine, all born in Michigan Family history aoso says that Mary Ann (the daughter) lived in Ontario and worked as a domestic for the Prime Minister or someone else in the Parliament there prior to marrying David Thiviege (earlier generations spelled it Thibierge) Do you have suggestion for my finding out Archibald's parentage?

Hi,
This is all I have on this gentleman.
On the net, there is an Archibald Kerr, died July 1881 in Pabos, buried in Anse-du-Cap. His wife was a Hogg.
Also, an Archibald Kerr and his family doing the mail service between Matapédia and Gaspé.
Thivierge is the proper spelling, derived from Petitvierge. Most were from Rivière-au-Renard, east of Gaspé.
Would you have the names of this Thivierge parents?

I do have the Thivierge info at my usual home in Michigan where I will be returning to in late April. I can send that info on at that time. I am presently in Arizona enjoying the warmer weather.

Re: Archibald Clark Kerr IV, 1881 Census Ste-Adelaide-de-Pabos, Gaspe, Quebec
Following up on this very old post. I have a 2nd great grandfather Archibald Kerr, married to Isabella Hogg. He was living at Nouvelle at the end of his life, recorded in 1871 Census. But he had a son, Archibald (died 1915 at Sanford, Maine) living at Little Pabos. This would have been the father of Alice Kerr Beaudin. I'm very interested in the death record for the elder Archibald Kerr. Can't find it on the net. nroy@mun.ca
