Philip Call or Whiting Call

I am trying to make a connection between Whiting Call, Alpha Call, Philip Call and Abijah Call. I believe Whiting was born and died in Magog, the son of Philip. Alpha, who may have been a brother of Whiting, died at Fitch Bay, Stanstead. I have no information on Abijah, but I believe he may have been the son of Alpha, and had a brother who was also named Whiting. If you know anything about any of the names, I would appreciate it if you would contact me. Thanks.

On the 1861 Census for Stanstead, Stanstead ,Que
As follows: all noted as born in LC (lower Canada) and religion C. Baptist

Almida Call - wife
Lucretia W Call - weaver

---------
It is a Very bad copy - so all subject to spelling disrepancies - etc
Hope this helps - it is NOT my line - just happened upon it and thought I would post here for you.
** It does not indicate whether this is two households living next door to each other or if it is only one household
I.E
Daniel et al could be one household and Whiting et al could be another - looks like he was widowed
Linda

The household previous to these is Chamberlain/Adams
The household following is Young - sometimes significant.

Thank you very much for this information. I believe it will help me a great deal.

Since I posted this message, I have obtained The marriage certificate for Whiting Call to Ellen Brown. His mother's name was listed as Almeda Turner. I also obtained his death certificate, which lists Daniel Call as his father.

Again, thank you very, very much.

Linda,
Do you happen to know if the Albert G. Call listed in this Census went from Canada to Vermont? My husbands ggrandfather was born in Canada but served in the Civil War for the Union from Vermont. We don't know much about him other than that information. He died in North Carolina in 1910. I would appreciate any information that you might have. Wanda

In reviewing, I noted that you were looking for Cass surnames. I have a record of the marrige of Richard Call to Elisabeth T. Cass, "both of the Towhship of Hatley and District of Saint Francis" (after the Publication of Banns) on February 6, 1854. Witnesses were Freeman Gilson and Betsey Gilson.

I obtained this from Marlene Simmons when I was looking for records on Richard C. Call, my great-great grandfather, who married Philenia (or Felina) Turner March 1, 1830 in Magog, Stanstead, Quebec.

I don't know if that's the same Richard with a second wife, or not. I don't have Philenia's date of death, but she and Richard C. were the parents of my great-grandfather, Alpha, and his siblings, Philenia R. and Albert G. Call.

Hi Jackie and thank you for your note.
neither of those names look familiar at this point.
I would however, suggest you look at Bryan Cass' site
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cassb/CASS/

I did not see your CALL listed but several Elizabeth Cass' were.
He also has a site at MyFamily.com dedicated to the Cass name- Descendants of John Casse- I would be happy to send you an invietation to the site if you were interested.

Surnames: CALL, YOUNG, TURNER
Actually the YOUNG family *does* bear importance here. The neighbors are Erastus YOUNG and wife, Phebe CALL. Now I wasn't sure if Phebe was related to Whiting, though it made sense. And I'd seen posts that Whiting CALL's father was Daniel CALL. Then saw this too this evening:

"On my previous message, I forgot to tell you that Whiting Call's father was Daniel Call, and his mother was Almedia Turner. " (JackieLewis22 - http://boards.ancestry.com.au/surnames.call/396/mb.ashx)

Erastus YOUNG b.c 1810, QUE or USA and d. btw 1871- 4 Apr 1881, m. Phebe CALL b. c 1812, QUE, of Hatley Twp., d.5 Apr 1881, Magog Twp., m. 2 Apr 1834, Church of England, Hatley Twp., Stanstead Co.

Turns out Erastus and Phebe had these issue (I've figured so far anyhow...)

George Madison YOUNG - b.c 1 Oct. 1837-30 Dec 1903 (Holyoke, MA)
Charles *Turner* YOUNG - b 21 Apr 1841 - 29 Mar. 1936, Beaverton, Brock Twp., Durham Co., ON
Amanda YOUNG - b.c. 1843 - d. aft 1861
Miles K. YOUNG - b.c. 1847 - d. aft 1885 (of prob Holyoke, aft 1898, or poss. ENGLAND)
Don E. YOUNG - b.c. 1851 - d. aft 1871, prob. aft 1898 of Holyoke, MA

Apparently most of Phebe's children migrated to Holyoke MA where they went to work in the Farr Alpaca (wool) mill. It seems though that George YOUNG went to Hamilton, Wentworth, or Hespler, Waterloo Co., ON, circa 1870 as it is here that backers for what would become Farr Alpaca went to mills in Hespeler to get Canadian backers for the Mass, USA mill. Once in place clearly they moved people as skilled labors right to Mass to work. George also went to England as well as a wool trader.
