Hello, I am researching the Browns also in the Eastern part of Lower Canada. I do know some family members went back and forth from Canada and Vermont.
Here is what I have starting in an asending order.
Albert Ernest Brown born in Aug 1867 lived in Swanton, Vermont and married Sarah J Cartwright from Highgate, VT who was residing in Franklin, VT when they married in Swanton, VT Jan 18th 1888
Albert E Brown list his fathers name as: Martin Brown and his mothers name as Rebeckah Hunter. In a 1900 Census where he lived in Holyoke, MA he listed his parents as being from England and he was from Canada. All the connection I seem to have is from my g-grandmothers baptismal papers where she was baptized in Brome county, East Farnham in 1903. They had 3 other children born in VT and MA. Now I have some info that show Alberts family was very BIG on Baptismals if the information is correct. Please let me know if any of this ties into your Browns at all. Thanks. God Bless all

I believe Alfred Brown is a different family. Thanks anyway.

Do you have knowledge of a Polly Brown? An Amos Brown seemed to oversee her affairs when in the 1850's he help her deed her farm over to Benjamin Place. Amos Brown was from Stanstead, but I think the farm was across in Vermont. I am assuming Polly's late husband had land in Stanstead, too. Amos Brown was too young to be her husband, do you know who she married and anything about the family? There were many Brown's in Stanstead and Sutton and some in Potton/Bolton who seem to be from the same line, yet, I cannot get a handle on my Brown line. Any help would be most appreciated.

I do not believe it is the same family. The first of my family that I have found were from Ireland. I know there was the father James Brown(e) and Margaret Cumming who brought two children; Andrew and Martha. I am a direct descendent of Andrew. I know the original home was in Trenholmville, Quebec which remained in the family until the death of my great great uncle James passed away. I know that Martha did not marry, so I doubt there is any connection.
