Frederick Williamson, Shipton
Looking for the date of death for Frederick. In 1840 he is listed as the husband of his second wife at her burial in Danville. Was he still alive in 1851? Any help greatly appreciated..

Re: Frederick Williamson, Shipton
The Danville Protestant Cemetery list done by Russell Saffin does not show Frederick but it lists Mary, wife of Frederick, d.14 Sept 1827 at 34 years of age. This seems inconsistent with your date of 1940.

Re: Frederick Williamson, Shipton
You might want to post this on the Richmond board, Shipton Township being in Richmond County.

Re: Frederick Williamson, Shipton
You may have your answer by now, but I have Frederick Williamson's date of death 28 Apr 1862. I think it is from Mayflower Families Vol 3. I am trying to follow his trail from the US to Danville. His son, Alonzo is our branch and I'm trying to pin down his birth date and place. Do you have any information about Frederick, born Pomfret, VT 1792?

Re: Frederick Williamson, Shipton
Frederick's father Nathan Williamson moved to Danville in 1804. There is a Williamson genealogy called Timothy Williamson and his Descendants by Grace Williamson Edes of Cambridge Mass. that was published about 1927. Even though there were few roads they visited relatives. I have stories from letters re visits. The Danville cemetery records are online Frederick was definitely born in Pomfret VT. There is a site that has old VT birth records, Alonzo does not appear in the Danville records that I have. I have a note that Alonzo was born on 30 Dec 1820 in Danville and that he married sarah Ann Blake on 3 July 1844 in Windham VT. It is difficult to find Shipton records around 1820. Most church records were done by circuit preachers from the US. We have never been able to find my ancestors marriage record. Frederick daughter Verona b 4 may 1819 appears to have been born in Shipton. Hope this is helpful. Alison

Re: Frederick Williamson, Shipton
Thank you for that information, I will look up the Grace Edes book. My mother in law has the Bible of one of Alonzo & Sarah's sons with the 1815 birthdate of Alonzo. I have looked in Vermont, New Hampshire and Canada for confirmation without luck. Because the family seemed to travel back and forth, I assume that is why I can't find anything about Alonzo until he is an adult in Vermont and New Hampshire. I hoped his siblings would give me clues.

Re: Frederick Williamson, Shipton
Do you have the information of his 2 sisters that died when they were young. I also did quite a bit of research on Verona who married a Bickford. My Ancestor was Able Bugbee Harvey who married Asenath Williamson. They moved to Franklin County NY about 1828. This county kept terrible records and I had to use the tombstone inscriptions plus copies of letters from the 1850's on for my research. There was one letter that called Warren Williamson an old coot who was running a saloon in Danville. Other Williamsons from the same family also moved to franklin County. You can belong to the mayflower Society as one of my cousins used his Williamson connection to belong. Another problem was that they did not always belong to the same church year after year in Danville. It is very frustrating when records seem to be missing. For example Able's father was David Harvey who we believe was the son of John Harvey for which the Harvey road in Manchester is named after. I did find one document that had David's name on it from Derryfield aka Manchester but no actual proof.

Re: Frederick Williamson, Shipton
I didn't know the names of Alonzo's parents until I read the Genalogies of Mayflower Families Vol. III. It told about his grandfather, Nathan, moving by ox team to Danville in 1804. It said that Frederick and his brothers Ebenezer and Warren went to Danville as well. I have done some searching in that area, but had not looked into Franklin County, VT. Other Williamsons are in the Claremont, NH area. Alonzo became a lawyer, married and settled there until he died. The Mayflower book gave me Alonzo's siblings, and I have his sisters Elvira and Verona born in Woodstock, too, although I can't confirm it. The Mayflower book said a Henry Dennison became their guardian in 1832 maybe when the estate of their Darling grandparents was settled. I want to read that probate.
