I am trying to find information on my grandmother. She was born Marie Lucienne Cecile Bachand (went by Cecile) in Magog, Quebec. Her parents were Napoleon Bachand and Rose Anna Belanger. Siblings were Romeo, Gertrude, and Aline. She was adopted at the age of 7 by Urgele and Amanda (Lussier) Choiniere. What I am trying to find out is why she was adopted at 7 years old and why she never talked about it. I have found that her God-Parents were Joseph Turcotte and Emma Lussier. The interesting connections is that Amanda Lussier had a sister named Emma, but I can't find any connection. If anybody could help me I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Marc Holt

I'm going to keep looking for him, but,if I were you, I would post the message on the Quebec board under "General" or "Eastern Townships" at the bottom of the Quebec board page. Many more people read these sections of the board than the "Estrie" board, so you would get more bang for your buck. Just a thought.

Susan

He doesn't appear to be with them in the 1911 census. Do you think he could have died young? There are a couple of Olsen deaths in the Bury-Lingwick Church of England records that could be him, but they are illegible. I can't find a stone for him in cemetery records either. Are your Olsens the Bury-Lingwick lot?

That marriage record looks to me like it says "Louis Jervah". It's quite clear. I think that "Emily Bella" is just a reflection of the fact that the clergyman didn't speak French and was not familiar with the name Beland. So he wrote it "Bella", which was what it sounded like to him. What is the problem with the dates, exactly?

Reeds from Waterville

I am seeking information on the siblings of my grandfather, Frederick Alexander Reed, born in East Clifton (I think), August 26, 1867, died Waterville, December 5, 1946. He was the son of Arthur Reed (1819-1895) and Ellen Lamphrey (1821-1904), all buried in Waterville cemetery. Fred had quite a number of siblings, including Arthur, Richard, Edward and Elizabeth. Elizabeth married Benjamin Brown and had a number of daughters and a grandson, Royce. These are not the North Hatley Reeds, but a completely different family. I believe that Arthur was born in Ireland. Does anyone know anything about them, or about the Lamphrey family?

Hello,
Another puzzle... Melbourne Methodist church April 25 th, 1882.
Looking about the parents of Frank Jervah, according to his marriage, they are Jervah Ls (probably Louis or Lewis) and Bellee Emily (ther first 3 letters are clear BELL but the end looks like a double e). The dates don't match with my ancestors Louis Gervais with his second wife Emilie Beland.
Frank Jervah is from Durham.
Frank birth date could be July 14, th 1858. He is buried in 1925 at the St.James cemetery, South Durham with his wife Mary Ann Stevens b. 1851, d. 1938.
I found some of their children and grandchildren.

Please help....
Thanks Lou

Emily Pilon died in Montreal April 10 th, 1923 age 98 years old. Emily Pilon is buried under Emily Perron in the Murphy burial ground in the "Cimetiere Notre-Dame-des-Neiges", Montreal.
I can't find John Gervais marriage with Emily Pilon.

Agnes married John Patrick Murphy in Montreal, May 26 th, 1902 St. Mary church (Our Lady of Notre-Dame du Bon Conseil)

According the 1911 census in Montreal;
Agnes is a widow, born March 1867, 44 years old.

I can't find her in the 1901 census but I believe that she is in the 1881 census at Ulverton, near Kingsey Falls.
under Agnes Mary Jarvais, french speaking, 11 years old, Roman Catholic, with Frank Jarvais, 22 years old, they lived with a widow Emma Placey and her children. No relationship given between the Jarvais and the Placey.

I will like to much to attach this twig to the Gervais tree.

Thanks in advance, Lou

Javris french speaking, Baptist church, born circa January 8 th, 1876. Work as a carpenter.
-----------------------------------------------------------
For this couple 2 known children:
In the Catholic parish of Ste-Bibiane, Richmond:
1. Nov. 11 th, 1899.

-----------------------------------------------------------
1911 Census Richmond,
I found only George Hill, 39 years old, born July 1871, Electrician, Catholic, english speaking
2 children: Georgina b.
Thanks, yes, Almira was d/o Abraham Salls and Sophia Bissell. Abraham Wait was s/o Enoch Wait & Sarah Salls. Abraham remarried to Harriet Brown in 1862, and they removed to Whitby, Ontario before the 1881 census was taken. He died there 10 Jan 1884. Informant was his son G.F. Waite. I'm not sure who Margaret is. Will have to try to find her parents.

Pam, I know you asked about Salls & Waite quite awhile ago. I have Almira Ann Salls, brn Dec 29, 1859 died 34 yrs.buried Anglican Cemetery, Lingwick. Married Abraham Wait. My Compton records spell his surname as Wait. But I notice on Leslie Nutbrowns list Abraham's surname is spelled WATT.I show no Abraham Wait/Waite/Watt on my Compton County cemetery listing. Also there are no parent's listing for Almira or Margaret on my Compton County cemetery list.
Margaret May Salls, brn 1926 & still living in 1994 is listed as going to be buried in Island Brook Community Cemetery. She is also listed as "loving friend of Donald Cooper.

It is possible your CHAPMAN ancestors came over in regard to the British American Land Company.

http://www.quebecheritageweb.com/trail/trail_details.aspx?&a...

On question of where the parents of WILLIAM F. CHAPMAN were born. There is a good chance that the two elder CHAPMAN's on this census page THOMAS & JOHN were brothers. They are both listed as having been b. Ireland.

http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/1851/001005-100....

1851 Census of Canada East, Canada West, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia
Name: William Chapman
Gender: Male
Age: 20 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1832
Province: Canada
District: Sherbrooke County
District Number: 29
Sub-District: Windsor
Sub-District Number: 433
Page: 17 Line: 13
Roll: C_1143
Schedule: A
HOUSEHOLD: There are 2 CHAPMAN families living nearly side by side on this page so listing both
CHAPMAN, THOMAS (fam. 1-4) occ: Farmer b.
Hockey Team photo c1900?

I have a photo dating to the early 1900's of a men's hockey team. Would anyone be able to identify this photo and/or its members?

I suspect it was a Granby hockey team since the frame is embossed with the photographer's name "Aime Tremblay, Granby, Que." My grandfather (Burton Osgood born 1894) is in the top row, 2nd from the left.
Thanks!
