Hello,
Another puzzle... Melbourne Methodist church April 25 th, 1882.
Looking about the parents of Frank Jervah, according to his marriage, they are Jervah Ls (probably Louis or Lewis) and Bellee Emily (ther first 3 letters are clear BELL but the end looks like a double e). The dates don't match with my ancestors Louis Gervais with his second wife Emilie Beland.
Frank Jervah is from Durham.
Frank birth date could be July 14, th 1858. He is buried in 1925 at the St.James cemetery, South Durham with his wife Mary Ann Stevens b. 1851, d. 1938.
I found some of their children and grandchildren.

Please help....
Thanks Lou

Do you have a Mary A Stevens in your tree that is older than the one you mentioned? My great great grandmother was Sarah Stevens who died 6 October 1860. The witness at their wedding was Mary A Stevens.

That marriage record looks to me like it says "Louis Jervah". It's quite clear. I think that "Emily Bella" is just a reflection of the fact that the clergyman didn't speak French and was not familiar with the name Beland. So he wrote it "Bella", which was what it sounded like to him. What is the problem with the dates, exactly?
