Nina Rowell's "Knicky Knocky" story can be found at Bishops University and possibly at the Compton Museum. Knicky Knocky is the area of homes along Victoria Road outside Bury. (It is where the Bown farm was and now has the Bown cemetary.) In it she says Herbert William Parsons married Bertha Mayhew of Canterbury, they lived in Bury village and had four children, Lloyd, Nora (Mrs. Arthur Loveland), Edgar and Frank. Frank married Blanche Gaulin and lived in Bury. Lloyd was in the firstwar, later going west where he died a few years ago. Hub (Herbert) died in 1900 at the age of 26 as a result of appendicitis.

Nina has also has a publication called Bury, A Picture Visit Through the Old Home Town, written in 1980, which includes many of the names you mention. I got my copy at Bishop University in Lennoxville, QC.

Some additional information. The Bury story by Nina has a picture of Alice Harrison who married Tom Herring. She lists the earliest settlers as Pope, McIver, Stokes, Hunt, Ward, Chapman, Hepburn, Hawley, Berwick, Wright, Bown, Sherman, Tambs, Duffield, Clark, Ellis, Barter, Fisher, Harrison, Herring, McClintock, Bennett, Rudd, Goodin, Groom, Asker, Cowling, Crawford, Parsons, Dorman, Reeve, Reed, and Allison. Most settled in Bury (previously Robinson) and on the Victoria Road (Knicky Knocky area).

There may be additional photos of some of the people you are looking for in this document - I only copied those that had a connection to my family (Dormans, Parsons direct line with other connections to Bennett and Fisher.)

Thank you so much Lynn for the info. I had heard of "Knicky Knocky", but never knew anything about it. I must get a copy.
I do have Nina's book on "Bury" and have corresponded with her to fill in some blanks she had on family.
I love to go to Bishop's and the Compton Museum when I'm up in Canada.

Hi Trudy
I am from the Mayhew family who lived next to the Sharman's. I note from 1851 census information that Ebenezer Sharman had a sawmill. Do you know where the sawmill was located - it was water powered.
Also I would love to have a copy of the map locating the Canterbury families in 1861. Can you scan and send me one? gordparsons@hotmail.com
Thanks
Gord
