Surnames: McHale, O'Halloran
I am trying to find any information on my GG-grandmother, BRIDGET McHALE. ( I have also seen it spelled as McKALE and McKail) I know that she was born 9 February 1837 in Quebec. I know her father's name was MICHAEL, and he was born in Ireland. The name that I have for a town in Quebec is Pont du Chein, but I haven't seen anything resembling that. BRIDGET married PATRICK O'HALLORAN. PATRICK was also born in Ireland. I don't know when PATRICK and BRIDGET were married, but they had two sons, MICHAEL abt.1870, and WILLIAM abt.1874, while in Quebec. They moved to North Adams, Mass. before 1876.

I haven't been able to find any records for Quebec, so any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure if this is connected, but pointe aux cheine is close to grenville (argentile county). My ggrandmother was annie mckale ((1841-april22 1875)who married john hall ( perhaps anglicised from o'halloran)

My Great Grand Aunt is Bridget McKale, who was married to Patrick O'Halloran. Her father's name was Anthony. Do you think they are the same people?

Hi,
I took a look at the marriage record and the actual date is July 7, 1869.

the word before Anthony is deceased so he was not living at the time of Bridget's marriage.

Hard to make out her mother's maiden name - looks something like McFarge/McLange ??

I believe I found the family in 2 census records.

1861 Argenteuil, Quebec
McKEAL
Widow, age 63, born Ireland
Bridget, age 24
Anthony, age 22
Bartholomew, age 20
Honora ge 19
Margaret age 17
Catherine, age 15
Mary Ann age 14
all the children shown as born Lower Canada

1851 GRENVILLE, QUEBEC
McKAIL
Anthony, age 60, born IReland
Mary, age 50, born IReland
Biddy, age 14
Anthony age 13
Bartley, age 12
Anne, age 11
Margaret age 8
Catherine age 4
BROWN
Mary Ann age 4

** so looks like same family in both and Mary Ann listed as Brown in one and McKeal in other so perhaps a grandchild? or adopted?

I looked for marriages for siblings of Bridget to see if mother's maiden name can be made out

there is a marriage for an Anthony but it is very hard to read so cannot read either parents names too well, but can tell he is son of Anthony and Mary

Bathelemy McCail married Margaret Finly(Finlayson) (the way it is indexed)
Sept. 16, 1871 Grenville - his parents shown as deceased Anthony McCail and Mary McTaigue (best I can make out), her parents deceased Thomas Finlay and deceased Margaret Byrnes

Anne McHeal (as indexed) but in image looks like McKeal
married Sept. 18, 1875 to John Hall
her parents Anthony McKeal and Mary McTeague, his parents Michael Hall and Catherine Walsh
witnesses are .....McTeague and Brigitte McKeal (looks like Jhon/Ghon for the McTeague witness)

Catherine McHeal (as indexed) McKeal in image
married Jan. 16, 1875 Grenville to Jhon McTeague (so a match to above witness)
her parents deceased Anthony McKeal and Mary McTeague
his parents Michael McTeague andCatherine Mathews
witnesses Bertholemy McKeal an Brigitte McVoie

I haven't found the marriages for Margaret or Mary Ann

In 1871 Grenville, Argenteiul, Quebec, Mary McKeal age 68 , widow, born Ireland is living with her son Bartholemew 29, born Quebec and his wife Margaret 31 and their children Anthony 9, Bridget Ann 7, Mary Eleanor 5, William 3 and P. James 1- all children born Quebec

she is not with them in 1881 and I cannot find her so suspect she had died by then
there is a death indexed for a Wedow (I guess it means widow) Mary Mc rale in Grenville sometime between 1875-1884 but when you go to the image there is a blank spot where it seems they had a paper over one side of the page so cannot read this entry.

I found a bapt. for Catherine and in her record parents are shown as Antoine McCail and Marie McFigue

I found Bridget's baptism - matches with birthdate you show for her.

Notre Dame du Bonsecours, Buckingham and Grenville

February 10, 1837 baptism of Brigite born the 7th current, of legitimate marriage of Antoine McHale of Grenville and Marie McTauge. Sponsors George Vately and Anne O'Hanlon

baptism in same place
April 26, 1838 baptism of Antoine born the 22nd current, of legitimate marriage of Antoine McHale of Grenville and Marie McTigue. Sponsors Michael Hanlon and Bridgette Shurbeck.

I have not been able yet to find marriage for Antoine/Anthony and Marie/Mary but there is a marriage in same place as above baptisms for a Michel McFague and Catherine Mathews
in 1836, he son of Joseph McFague and Brigitte Shurlock

I suspect the Shurbeck/Shurlock is same name, mispelled in one of the records.

at ancestry there is an obit for Bridget O'Halloran in 1921 MA- linked to a tree - it shows her as wife of Patrick and listed among her survivors are a brother Barkley McKale of MN and sister Mrs. John McTeague of Arizona. - sot hat seems to fit with the earlier census and marriages in Quebec.

http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/28557402/person/12060217678/p...

I see in 1930 Bartley Mckale 90, is living in MN with a Mary Mctague 63 and Richard Mctague 31
Bartley is shown as father of Mary so looks like the McHale/McKale and Mctague families intertwined quite a bit.

a Bartholomew McKale died Sept. 6, 1932 MN - from ancestry
and at family search.or (MN deaths) his death shows Martholomew McKale died Sept. 6, 1932 Cloquet, Carlton, MN parents ANthony McKale an d Mary Mctague

and at familysearch.org (AZ deaths)
Catherine Mctague died July 19, 1922 Phoenix, Maricopa, AZ, father Anthony McKale, husband John Mctague
mother's name not shown

From a tree at ancestry I found marriage for Bridget's sister Margaret
Margaret Mckeal age 30, born Grenville, Quebec, daughter of Anthony McKeal and Mary McQuaig, and Matthew Regan age 26, born Plymouth, England son of Matthew Regan and Mary Regan, married April 26, 1880 Carleton, Ontario

** her age is off but maybe she wanted to appear younger as her husband was somewhat younger than she.

they also have a death for an Ellen McHale who they show as a daughter of Anthony and Mary but I looked at her death record and McHale was married name and no parents listed so not
child of Anthony and Mary.

Odd but I cannot find Matthew and Margaret at all after their marriage so I went to look at the ON Catholic records and found their marriage there. Margaret is shown as daughter of Anthony McKeal and Mary McTaige and Matthew's surname looks more like Ryan or Bryan than Regan.
In this record he is indexed as Wyans.

I still can't find them together after their marriage
