We have a Charles Ahier from Point aux Esquimaux who married Jane Anne Gallienne in 1871 at the Church of England, Levis in our family tree. We would be very interested in the source of your information. Charles Ahier is my great-great grandfather. We have Jane Gallienne's lines back to 1775. Her parents were Mathieu Gallienne and Fanny Godion. We know that Charles Ahier's father was also Charles Ahier, but have no other information and are particularly interested in that line. Do you have any information, especially witnesses or attendants at the wedding? We would be happy to share any of the information we have with you.

Guy Saint-Hilaire, "Les mariages protestants du Comte de Lévis 1820-1948" (1981) is the source. I could have made an error in transcribing data, your date seems more likely than the one I cited. I do recognize Ahier, Gallienne and Gaudin as surnames of Jersey, Channel Islands, and settlers would have arrived with Jersey fisheries such as Charles Robin & Co, or its successor firm Robin Collas & Co, from Paspebiac, QC. The records of the firm Robin, Jones & Whitman are with the National Archives of Canada, Ottawa.

Sir/Ma'am,
I have been researching a painter by the name of Charles Ahier for my grandfather who resides in California. He owns a wonderful seascape painting, a work by "Charles Ahier." Is there any possibility that the painter who created this work is one of your ancestors? Was your Charles a painter??? I just thought I'd check, as this name is quite rare? Please reply to my personal e-mail account so that I can quickly respond to any questions you may have. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Kristy Lanham

My name is Adrian Hudson Gallienne and my Grandfather was John Philli Gallienne and his sister was Jane Anne Gallienne born 24th December 1844. Their parents were Mattew Gallienne and Fanny Gaudion. At some point Matthew and Fanny went to Canada. I would be most interested to find out when they went to Canada and happened in Canada. I am also interested in any information you have about Jane Gallienne's lines back to 1775.
Thank you Adrian

Hi Adrian,
I have just started working on the Gallienne tree. My person of interest is Louisa Gallienne, sister to Jane and John Phillip, and I am also most interested in their lines back to 1775. Have you received any more information?
The only info that I have which would be of interest to you is that the 1861 census of the Channel Islands places them in St Peter, Jersey, Channel Islands and the 1871 Census of Canada places them in Montmagny, Quebe, Canada, so somewhere in between is when they came to Canada. Jane married Charles Ahier at Levis, Quebec, Canada on 19 Oct 1871.
Hope to hear from you. Thank you.
Margaret

Hello Cousin Adrian, This is a very late reply to your message board query of early 2012. There has been such little response to our original posting that we rarely check on it any more (obviously). Jane Gallienne was my great-great-grandmother. We have developed quite a bit of information on the Galliennes over the years, although it is by no means complete. If you would still like informatiion on Jane, her parents and descendants, please let me know what we may share with you. Possibly you could fill in a few blanks for us as well. Since you mentioned only John, Phillip and Jane, you may not be aware that they were the oldes of 12 Gallienne children.
