Hello,
I recently discovered that my great-uncle, Carl Edvin Johannesen (born 27 Feb 1857 in Frogn, Akershus, Norway and at a very young age moved to Aas parish), was a passenger on the Concordia in its infamous 1873 voyage to Moisie, Quebec, Canada to work for the Moisie Iron Works. Although he was only 16 years old at the time, he went by himself.
Some very fascinating details of the controversy surrounding this voyage can be found at:
http://www.museumsnett.no/mka/ssa/concordi.htmObviously, I'm trying to determine what happened to Carl afterwards, and to locate his living descendents, if any. All I know from sparse family anecdotes is that he had three children in Canada by the names of Herbert, Clifford and Christine (she was supposedly an accomplished opera singer and went to Italy), and that's all I know (it is likely he took the 'Johnsen/Johnson' surname, but this is not absolutely certain -- I have no idea if he stayed in Quebec, or moved to another province at a later time.)
Any advice or assistance in finding what happened to Carl Johnsen and his descendents would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
