Re: Joseph Roy, b. 1890 St-Ephrem
I am searching my ancestors named Philippon and came across your post. I found an Honore Philippon in my search. His father is Hector Philippon. Hector's father is Joseph Antoine Philippon who married on August 11, 1817 at Ste-Marie, Beauce.
Joseph Antoine Philippon is son of Yves Philippon and Marie-Louise Faucher.
I wonder if these are the same Honore.
Sincerely,
Brigitte (Philippon) Keller

Re: Joseph Roy, b. 1890 St-Ephrem
Hector Philippon had a son named Honore who married Marie-Zerila Begin in St-Ephrem, Beauce May 10, 1886. Honore had at least 3 sisters: Dina, Emma and Marie and at least 3 brothers: Victor, Odias and Elzear.
Hector married Marie-Adele Tadif (Isidore Tardif & Theotiste Fillion) in St-Victor, Beauce Jan. 8, 1856.
Hope this will help.

Philias Trefle Roy is shown as having died in Foxcroft, ME Sept 1892, age 6 mos. He's listed as Philip T King on that record. This is why you can't find the adoption.

Re: Philias T. Roy died 1892
Thank you for this information. My husband's uncle has been searching for more than 30 years for information about his father's brother, Trefle. I don't know if he even knows that his first name was Philias as he has always referred to him as Trefle..I will pass this information on to him. How can I get a copy of the death record, and does it show the place of birth in Canada or the US..?This is one more family mystery that is solved. Now, to find a death record for Trefle's father, Joseph Roy,who was born in 1864 St. Georges, Beauce. He was a lumberjack in Maine and it is believed he died sometime around 1894. If you come across anything on Joseph, I would appreciate you letting me know...This is the last family mystery, yet to be solved. When Joseph died, his widow, Marie Grenier returned to the Beauce and had to adopt out her two younger children, Napoleon, Philias' twin brother and Joseph,my husband's grandfather. She had no means of supporting them and even returned to Maine for a while to stay with her oldest son, Bill who had to work in the factories at a young age.Marie did return to Quebec and married in 1912 to Honore Phillipon. I've heard stories that Marie did try to get her children back, but the families that took the boys in wouldn't give them back. It must have been awful for her.Her own children were led to believe terrible things about her. She did what she thought was best for her boys, even if it meant losing them.. This family had alot of hard times and so many unanswered questions for more than 100 years. I'm glad my husband's uncle is still living so I can share with him this good news. Once again, thank you for your help....
