I have been researching Frampton, Quebec area microfilms of my DUNCAN family from St-Malachie, Dorchester Co.

What are the specific names, dates and relationships of the REDMOND family that you are interested in? There are REDMONDs there in a couple of parishes, some went to Maine.

Where did your Redmonds end up?

Do you have any connection to Patrick M. REDMOND author of the book "Irish Life in Rural Quebec, A History of Frampton"? I haven't read it but I would love to get my hands on a copy.

Cynthia,

Some REDMONDs went to Wisconsin. I think I recall some old posts of yours on another website?

I saw that you had a post on the Hampden Co., MA board. Do you have any family there? That's were my DUNCANs ended up.

Yes another part of the same family went to Neilsville, Wisconsin.

The emigrant, Hugh and Marcella (Fitzsimmons) Redmond also moved to WIs...... my line is Peter-2 who settled in Solon Maine as well as his brother Michael settled at Long Pond, Maine and both are buried there.

Looks like your Redmonds were in St-Marguerite. Family History Film 1711400 has birth, marriages and deaths for Anglicans. There are also films for Catholic Burials in St-Malachie & St-Edouard in the LDS Catalog.

From the information you have posted in various places on the web it looks like you have more info than I do. - (I am not related to the Redmonds, just researching Irish families of Frampton.) - I have found that people traveled back and forth to Maine to work in Lumber and to trap for furs. One of my Duncans died in Maine... but I don't know what town or county.

There are many towns missing from the 1851 Census for Dorchester Co. and your Redmonds were gone by the 1861 Census.

I saw on the IGI at the LDS site that Michael REDMOND & Catherine CORRIGAN are the parents of Hugh REDMOND... but no source listed.

Sorry I cannot be of more help.

I can't help with Redmonds, but have a lot of information on the John Duncans in St. Malachie. My grandfather's sister, Nellie (also known as Eleanor) McGrath married John Duncan in 1899. They had 10 children. If this is the family you are interested in, let me know. My grandfather was a McGrath, whose family first emigrated to Frampton. My maiden name was McGrath and my grandfather came to Boston around 1897.

I'm guessing that you're a direct descendant of John Duncan since the Duncans of St. Malachie all remained in the village or moved temporarily to Quebec City.

John moved to the Rochester , NY area I believe.

Hello Janice;

Your post caught my attention. My grandmother Mary Mcgrath(who died before I was born) was Nellie's sister.

As for the 10 children I can only recall 7 (John, Mabel,Fred,Leonard,Arthur,Rob and Winnie) but miscarriages were common at that time and were often recorded.

I'm curious as to where you fit in the picture.

Hi Janice;

I'm guessing that you're Howard's daughter.
