Hello, I recently visited St-Michel and could not find many of my ancestors either. I read somewhere that burial plots are only leased, not bought, so when the lease runs out, 99 years was suggested, then a notice is put in the paper or a notice is sent to the family, and if no reply is received, or the family declines, then the people are disinterred, buried deeper, the stones are ground down for re-use (I didn't see any that looked like that), and the top layer re-leased. I live in a town founded in 1635 and our cemeteries are huge, yet the size of the ones I saw in Drummondville, Baie du Febvre and St-Michel were very modest. Most of the burials seemed to be in the 20th century. So I knew they were "there", just not identified. My sister and I drove all around Drummondville before we began to figure out they weren't kidding about this re-use of plots. I don't know anything about the church in St-Michel. St-Antoine in Baie du Febvre is the 6th church on that site, so St-Michel could very well be newer.

Malheureusement, je ne sait pas le lieu de naissance de Félicité (autrement que "Canada"). Est-ce que c'est possible que'elle est aussi d'origine Yamaskienne? He immigrated to Kankakee, Illinois, USA sometime in the 1850's. In 1857 he married Felicit Gauthier in Illinois, and together they raised 4 children, Josephine, Clara Marie Louise, Louis Esdras, and Elia Velma Paquin, all born in Illinois.

I am wondering if there is any information regarding this family, and whether there were other siblings who remained in the vicinity of La Baie-du-Febvre.

St-Michel-Yamaska Age of current church and burials?

Can anyone tell me when the current church in St-Michel-d-Yamaska was built? I note that there appears to have been an addition to a previous church. The plaque on the church indicates it was formed in 1727 but I think this church appears more recent. Also, I visited the grave yard at the church this past summer but unable to find my GGGGRandparents Olivier Salvas (died after 1857) and Marguerite Pelletier-Salvas (died about 1853). Where else might they have been buried?
Thank you in advance!

I am looking for this person's lineage. She was the first wife of Cyriac Kirouac.
Cyriac was born in 1855. Their children were Arthemise (1874), Alphonse, Napoleon, and Arthur. Cyriac also had other children, as he subsequently married Delphine Girouard.

Merci beaucoup, Denise!

I have been searching for Adeline for a very long time. ( As it turned out, I had found another Adeline Bourret, baptized at St. Guillaume d'Upton and had mistakenly researched and adopted her family as my own! )

My parents were Maurice Beliveau and Ruth Arsenault. What I was able to document about my paternal grandfather's family went back only as far as Arthemise, until now.

I hope I can learn more about Gabriel Bourre and Joseph Bourre, as I have been seeking to validate or refute my family's claim to have native american heritage.

The work is thorough and accurate, and I thank you most sincerely for helping us find our lost ancestors, Adeline Bourre and Cyriac Kirouac.

Joanne Beliveau Watson

Here is a message I received and would like to pass it on to you;
am Lawrence (Larry) Bergeron. I, along with several other
Bergeron-Damboise descendants of Barthelemy Bergeron and Genevieve Serreau
are in the process of planning a Bergeron/Damboise Reunion.
Everything is still in the planning stage at this point although we do have
a preliminary target date as the summer of 2009 no exact date has been set
as yet. And the place would be Fredericton, New Brunswick
The Society of History of the River St John (SHRSJ) is planning a 250 year
commemoration of the destruction of the Village of Point St Anne at
Fredericton New Brunswick and we want to plan our event to coincide with
theirs.
Our desire would be to have the site of the Church and Cemetery site set
aside as a "national historic site" (as we would call it here in the
states). This would have to be done by either the National or Provincial
governments.
(This is where it is widely believed that Barthelemy and Genevieve are
buried)
At this time we have "cousins" from Louisiana, Virginia, Michigan, Maine,
families from Quebec, New Brunswick and New Hampshire attending and we
would like to have as many more as possible.
As I said before there are many details to be ironed out, Passports to
acquire, lodging to get, a place to hold the reunion and so forth. Please
try to join us!
Regards
If interested please contact;
Lawrence Bergeron
larrybergeron@earthlink.net
Just an update about the Bergeron dit Damboise reunion, the dates have been changed to a week earlier which would be July 18 and 19 2009.We are also inviting all Damboise, and Bergeron descendants of Barthelemy Bergeron and Genevieve Serreau, you dont have to have these surnames just as long as they are among your ancestors. And the Godins are also invited so if you have Godins in your line, tracing to the Godins who were in Sainte Anne de Pays Bas, then come join us. We are already quite a few who have signed up. If interested our Bergeron group is at bergeron-damboise@googlegroups.com or contact Lawrence Bergeron, or reply to this message. Hope you will come and meet all your cousins at the reunion.
