I'm confused, are Lotbinière and Laneuville different names for the same place in Quebec?

Re: Laneuville could be Neuville, Portneuf

There is a town called Neuville (Point Aux Trembles), in Portneuf county. I have been researching records in Lotbiniere county for years, and have never heard of Lotbiniere referred to as "Laneuville".

Laneuville is the name of a notary (lawyer), probably the individual who wrote the mariage contract in this particular case. This is sometimes used when church records cannot be found for a mariage or as additional info.

There is a Lac Laneuville in Portneuf County. It is possible that in another era the people living around the lake referred to the area as Laneuville. However, this is not the same as Lotbiniere.
