Hi:

There is now a Cathedral type church at Ste-Anne. You would have to contact the parish to find out is the old church has been preserved.

Where the practice of burying people in the basement of the church and where the church still exists, it is obvious that the floor had to be redone over the years and the traps have disappeared. In such cases, the have put on metal plates on the wall the names of all those buried under the floor.

Church records: Through the Family history centers of the Mormons (LDS) you may have them get from Salt Lake City the microfilm of the parish for the period you are interested in. My Gen. Society has the digitized records also. Depending on what you are interested in and the research time, I could do the look up if you cover the related costs. I have the means to reproduce records as written in the church registry. If interested, contact me at my email address: jjmmatteau@sympatico.ca

Jean-Marie (John)

Thank you Jean-Marie. Do you know if these burials are marked? Is the place where the church is still exist? Where would I find records for Ste. Anne's? How would they have marked the grave if they were buried under the floor?

Hi:

I am sure that you meant to write: «cave». In fact, it might have been the cave. There was no church basement at the time. They used to cut floor boards and dig a hole in the ground underneat the floor.

That practice was common for the most notable members of the parish.

What else would you like to know.

Jean-Marie

I am wondering if anyone can tell me about burials at Ste. Anne's? I have a great grandfather who is said to be buried in the nave of the church. He is Jean Baptiste DeLisle who died Feb. 7, 1777. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

Please post here any Montmorency queries as well as those for the parishes of Chateau-Richer (est. 1661), L'Ange Gardien (est. 1669), Ste-Anne-de-Beaupre (est. 1657), and St. Joachin (est. 1687).
The baptismal record for Charles Racine has not been found. PRDH (U. de Montreal) has no date of birth or baptism for him. On his marriage record (PRDH Cert # 224014) at Ste-Anne-de-Beaupre he is not a minor, so he must have been born before 1753.

Regards,
Sharyn

Hello,

I am not sure of anything any longer. I am getting quite confused.

I think my ancestry goes as follows:

my grandparents are Paul Emile Gagnon (Died 24 September 1963) who married
my Grandmother Marguerite Watts. He left the family 8 years after my father
was born in 1927. I think he re-married Nicole Lorette around 1934. I
received information that they were married on 29 Sept 1927 but this seems
impossible since my Father's sister was two years older and was born around
1925.

my ggrandparents were Louis Gagnon and Delia Boivin.
my gggrandparents were Zepherin (Seph) Gagnon and Delima Simard
my ggggrandparents were Zepherin (J) Gagnon and Emelie Marquis

This is information I received through my requests so far but things seem to
have become confused when I try to confirm this pedigree.

Any help you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much,
Robert
robert.gagnon@rogers.com
My late father Robert Gillmet of Duluth Minnesota had a Guillemette (spelling?) cousin he used to write to in the 1940's and 50's, who owned a ski shop in St-Ann-de-Beaupre in Quebec province. Anyone have any idea how I might dredge up info on who this cousin was?
