la maison de Beaupré early 1640's

While checking baptisms in the Quebec Vital Records (Drouin Collection) I came across several baptisms that are recorded in Notre-Dame de Quebec in 1641, stating that the children were baptized “en la maison de Beaupré.”

I know the records of Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré didn’t start until the late 1650’s. So it could have been there, but I don’t want to make that assumption.

I know Ignace Bonhomme-dit-Beaupré did not arrive in New France until after 1641, so I know it’s not his land.

Does anyone know where the Beaupé house or land was in the mid 1600’s?

Thanks,

While researching the marriage of Cesar Leger and Roberte Gadois 1644, the marriage is recorded in the Records of Notre Dame de Quebec. However the Quebec, Vital and Church Records - Drouin Collection state the marriage took place in the “Chapelle de St-Michel a Piseaux”

Does anyone know where this Chapel was?

Thanks,
Debbie
He was my grandfather, was in the army, died and is buried at the RI Veterans cemetary. He was married to Rose...not sure of her maiden name. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there! I am not familiar with the Clute Fairbanks book. Is there a detailed account of Johannes Clute's captivity or the circumstances of his release? I would really like to find out more information on his capture and captivity. My great-great grandmother was Mary Caroline Clute, only daughter (out of 5 children) of Nicholas F. Clute and his first wife, Mary Wells/Welles. Thanks for responding! Diana

Johannes was a great grandparent of my how many generations I am not sure. He was held captive by the Indians for four years and then set free with nothing but a blanket wrapped around him. I have the Clute Fairbanks book from 1656 to 1954 When my cousin was born. My Grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Clute.

Hi,

I think the Fox you are talking about is Margaret. She is my great grandmothers sister. She married Hubert around 1892. If you look for Margaret Hernors, Chicago Ward 4, Cook, Illinois in the 1900 census, you will find them. I know that this is the right Margaret Fox, because she lives down the street from Peter Fox, her brother and Rose Lynch her sister.

Margaret is from Westmeath, Ireland. Moate, I think.

Hope this helps.

Marcey Casey

I know this was posted a long time ago, so I don't know if anyone will see this but I've been working on my family tree and it also traces back to Pierre Racet.

I wanted to let you know that "Une Otchipwa" is actually French for a (female) Odjibwa or Chippewa. The research I've done says that Otchipwa is Algonkian for "to pucker" and they think the tribe might've been called this in reference to the puckered seams on their moccasins. So Pierre's wife was not named Une Otchipwa, her name is unknown so she has been referred to as simply "a Chippewa/Odjibwa/Odjibwe woman"

I am a direct descendant of Richard and Anna Taylor Stevenson of Leavenworth Kansas. I have been doing some family research recently because the Leavenworth Historical Society in Leavenworth Kansas is collecting information on my family which includes our connection to the Campions. Back in the late 1960s-1970, my great aunt, Margaretta Price Stevenson, daughter of Horace Saunders Stevenson corresponded often to a Harry Campion, who lived in California at the time. They shared family history with one another. I have some of those records. Is there any way I can help you with your search? My great great grandfather Richard Stevenson built a house at 522 7th Street, Leavenworth Ks 66048 and a Campion family member lived in it until her death in 1923. At that time the house was sold to someone outside the family.

Generally speaking, la côte Ste-Geneviève (Ste-Geneviève hill), or better still le coteau Ste Geneviève (Ste-Geneviève embankment), is the embankment that separates the upper town of Québec from its lower town in a northely direction. Jean Bourdon, surveyor, established his home on this embankment (a couple of miles from the fort St-Louis). A chapel was later built there (chapelle St-Jean) to accomodate the residents. This chapel does not exist anymore. The exact location of Bourdon's domain, referred to as being à la coste (old spelling for côte) Ste- Geneviève is still debated but probably near what is now la côte Salaberry.

Hi, My ancestors are Campions and are also from France.
J.W. Campion. John W. Campion was born in Quebec in 1827. He moved to Jerseyville..or thereabouts, Illinois. He married a woman named Sarah "Sallie" Fleming Rogers ?.
They had two children. Charles and Carrie. Sallie then died and J.W. Campion went one to marry Anna Stevenson of Leavenworth Kansas. Together they had Mrs. W.W. Winnie, Edith, Richard, Horace, and Henry. J.W. Campion also had two known brothers. Richard Campion of Dayton Ohio and Andrew Campion of Geneva, NY. I am directly related to J.W. Campion through Charles. Charles had a son Cornelius.
Cornelius had a daughter Cornelia. Who had a daughter named Judith.. and then I'm Donna. I'm very interested in tracing my family Campion roots to France. I'm also interested in finding any living Campion relatives. Thanks.

Yes, I have several photos of him -- camera shots, not formal portraits. This is Alex, son of Joe and Lia, and husband of Mary, then Ailene. If this is your grandfather, we are 2nd cousins. I would be glad to send you copies of the photos I have in exchange for more information about Alex -- I have very little data on him.

Hello RIK ? ***

This is a shot in the dark. But the birth dates in 1850's Quebec might connect, so:

GGgrandparent seems to be David Bertrand, whose son Zotique b.1848/49 was my grandpa's dad. This is Lapasse, Ont and Pontiac, Quebec area, aka Ottawa Valley. There are lots of French style names in the family back then, so I don't think Bertrands were Anglicised yet, altho my mom's family all were. And in Belgium French is spoken, right?

I have inconsistent/incomplete data on David's marriages.

1st marriage ? unknown
2nd marriage Ann McKay Sept 3, 1867
3rd marriage Margaret/Marguerite Simmons, date unknown.

I say I imagine an earlier marriage because of birth marriage data for David's children, which fall in line with Zotique's birth and his marriage in 1878.

So maybe you have info on a brother from one of your earlier ancestors that matches. And if in your answer, if it's the same family earlier back, or if you came upon this info by chance, please advise.

Regards,
Robert
