Marriage Lookup: Cesarie Dumont m. Jean-Baptiste Sergerie dit St. Jorre
Would someone please lookup the union of Jean-Baptiste Sergerie dit St. Jorre and (Marie?) Cesarie Dumont? My unsourced information says they were married on 02 Feb 1862 in St-Simon-de-Rimouski, Rimouski, Quebec.
I'm specifically looking for the parental information of both Jean-Baptiste and Cesarie, as this is where I'm stuck on this part of my family line. JB and Cesarie are my GG grandparents.
Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Marriage Lookup: Cesarie Dumont m. Jean-Baptiste Sergerie dit St. Jorre
Using 2 different repetoires I figured out the sequence:
Jean Baptiste ST-JORRE dit SERGERIE m. (1) Marie BOUCHER (no date or location). Then, on 26 Aug 1844 widower Jean Baptiste ST-JORRE dit SERGERIE m. (2)Henriette BERUBE (Charles & Thecle FOURNIER) at St. Louis de Kamouraska (repetoire de St-Louis de Kamouraswka)
Jean Baptiste ST-JORRE dit SERGERIE m. Sarrasine DUMONT (Pierre & Modeste COTE) Feb 13 1863 at St-Simon. He is the son of Jean Baptiste ST-JORRE dit SERGERIE and (1) Marie BOUCHER. (Rimouski repetoire)
Joseph ST-JORRE dit SERGERIE m. Celestine RIOUX Feb 2 1869 at St-Matthieu (Rimouski). He is the son of Jean Baptiste ST-JORRE dit SERGERIE m. (2) Henriette BERUBE . (Rimouski repetoire)
The DUMONT line is also complicated by multiple marriages.
Pierre DUMONT m. (1) Modeste COTE on one of two dates: handwritten 27/7/1798 or 11/7/1798 at L'Isle Verte and (2) Cecile SIROIS on 15/1/1805 at L'Isle Verte. (Rimouski repetoire). PRDH has the date as 1798-07-24 (cert # 357645)
Happy hunting, Sharyn

Re: Marriage Lookup: Cesarie Dumont m. Jean-Baptiste Sergerie dit St. Jorre
I finally found the marriage for Jean Baptiste ST-JORRE and Marie BOUCHER (previously posted by someone else) at St-Andre on July 20 1841. It is out of order on the St-Andre repetoire (after St-Pierre) and is the only marriage of that surname at that parish (wonder why?). The others are at St-Louis de Kamouraska and later at Rimouski. His father, Isidore (Pierre & Ursule MARTIN) m. Marie Victoire POTVIN (Francois & Marie Catherine RIOUX) on July 19 1796 at St-Louis.

Re: Marriage Lookup: Cesarie Dumont m. Jean-Baptiste Sergerie dit St. Jorre
I had originally thought that JB Sergerie was from the union of JB Sergerie and Marie Boucher. I know we do have ties to the Boucher line, and we haven't found the connection yet, so when I found this JB who had been married to a Boucher, I thought for sure this was it.
However, there appears to be a bit of a problem, and this is where it gets confusing. On the 1881 Canadian Census, I found JB Sergerie dit St. Jorre and Cesarie (Dumont) St. Jorre, along with children I know from my other family history belong to them. According to the ages listed on the Census record, JB Sergerie would have been born around 1826...15 years before JB Sergerie and Marie Boucher were married.
That was one of the reasons why I wanted the marriage lookup for JB Sergerie St. Jorre and Cesarie Dumont so badly. Where exactly did you get the information for their marriage? Was it from the church register? An extract book culled from the register?
I'm starting to wonder if indeed the census record could be completely wrong with JB and Cesarie's ages...
Also, I'm wondering...does the timing for Cesarie's parents vs. her age seem off? If her parents married in 1798, then Cesarie would have been born in the 1820's at the youngest, wouldn't she?
Sorry to be such a pain...it's such a puzzle!

Re: Marriage Lookup: Cesarie Dumont m. Jean-Baptiste Sergerie dit St. Jorre
The information I gave was from CD transcriptions of the repetoires mentioned. They tend to be quite accurate on the whole as they were done by the priests.
Your next task would be to get the microfilms for 1851-1871 census and see what you find there. You now know where the family was living over a long time period so this should be relatively simple, though very time and energy consuming.

Sharyn~
Thanks so much for clearing that up for me! I didn't mean to sound ungrateful in any way; I hope I didn't come across as such. I just wanted to be clear that "repertoire" meant what I thought it did.
I have on order at the local FHL the film for the St. Simon parish register, hoping that the information I'd been given was correct, so it was great news to hear that their marriage record really is there.
This gives me a great starting point, and the other census records are a great idea, thanks!
