I am looking for someone to provide me with the details of the land transaction in which my ancestors sold their 652 acre farm in Matane to come to the United States in 1880. If someone lives in Matane and can easily view local land records, you may be able to help me. I will compensate you for your time.

Thanks

Marc:

Thanks,

I have the information you sent on B, M, D. I have my entire line from France to present. I wanted to know if Louis Laferriere sold his farm before he came to the United States in 1880. The census of 1871 has him living on a 652 acre farm in Matane. He moved to Matane from Bellechasse around 1861. Its possible that he was granted the land by the government at the time. If you could find anything about him buying the land and whether he sold it or gave it to a son when he left the country, that would be helpful.

Thanks

Bob Laferriere
