Baby boy born 1953, adopted in Montreal, family from Rimouski or Kamouraska areas...

This is a shot in the dark, but hopefully the right people read this. My husband's father was born in 1953 (allegedly Nov. 3, 1953) and was adopted by a Jewish family in Montreal. Of course, he isn't Jewish by birth, but rather French Canadian. He was one of the black market adoption babies from that time period. I suspected as much for years but then my husband did the DNA tests via FTDNA and 23andme.com and it confirmed such. We have a lot of relatives coming up in Rimouski and Kamouraska (and surrounding areas) and in Maine and in Vermont. Possible surnames associated with one of the biological parents include: Roy, Paradis and Desjardins, and others. Like I said, a shot in the dark. My father-in-law is almost six feet tall, had blond hair as a child but it turned almost black as he got older, blue eyes, biggish nose, big ears, known back issues and his feet point outward. Also developmental delays with males in the family (late walkers, mostly). My email is theappeltree@hotmail.com

I hope someone recognizes this info.

Surnames: Johnson,Kamouraska
My grandfather who was born in 1907 in the upper MI and later relocated to Manistee MI, and Ludington MI, then to Ionia MI. Back in the 1990's it became known that he had fathered two children. One was a female. He was a Johnson, although I could not find much on his father before 1900 with the name, thinking he changed his name with immigration.

I do know my gf went to Canada, WI, and MN a number of times, stating Canada was visiting relatives as well as the other states. Getting back to your issue of the adopted baby, this woman was adopted out as a baby. I have started checking trees that the YDNA matched and of these trees Not many are Johnson, but other names. Also interestingly, is that most of these matches are from Norway, and Germany and England, Canada, not Sweden, which is what he used to put on the census reports.

My grandfather was a very tall man, and when younger had blonde hair, blue eyes, big nose, big ears, as well as my mother, One thing is that the man had sort of a square jaw bone line and slim long face. I know there is an age difference with your son vs the people I have mentioned, I was b. 1950.

Some of the people who matched my Johnson DNA have a variation of the name you are seeing also. I do wish that the DNA people would open their tree to us or respond back so it would be a bit easier to find info.

Hello, I am a little confused about what you are suggesting. It is my father in law who was the adoptee and born in 1953. He was born in Quebec. What surname is a variation of Johnson? My husband tested via 23andme.com and FTDNA as we cannot test via Ancestry here in Canada. Are you on Gedmatch.com?

I must have been tired when responding to your info. I got off track. There were many names on the YDNA only a couple I think were Johnson. In the trees, a Johnston, and Jensen, etc. I explained about my gf with his daughter who was adopted out, the description of the child reminded of my gf description. I thought about getting another DNA, but I thought the 23and me was only for medical purposes? I am not on gedmatch.com I am on Family Tree maker, besides ancestry.com. The name Kamouraska could be shortened to Kuska? That is the last name of the YDNA match for me. On some of the trees I pulled up with the Kuska it gave the Kamouraska, I just thought it was a shortened name, but the same line?

I think you're confused. Kamaouraska and Rimouski are place names in Quebec. And 23andme is similar to FTDNA but with the medical component. I never mentioned Johnson or Jensen, etc...

No, I was looking under a name match for me with the Johnson, Kuska was the match. I didn't realize the names you displayed were places. Sorry for my mistake. Thank you.
