Hello Shirley,
We just found that our (descandance) 9th generations is from Champagne in France. He's name is Claude Louis Lalande (1695-1765) and he moved to Kamouraska (Quebec province) around 1743. When he died, on the paper, the last name St-Louis was added, and all his generation began to put this last name.

Hope you'll find some informations for you.
Danielle :))

My grandfather was Edward A. Lalande, He married Bertha Deslaurier. I know he had 10 siblings all together. The only ones I can remember are, Ben,& Duncan,(who was head of Canadian immigration about 25 years ago, he had an amputated leg, i never met him, but heard of him), then there was Rose Lalande my great aunt who died about 1970) and my mother Rose Lalande who died in 1978. My aunt Tessy was also his sister, she lived up around Timmons Ontario, but I don't know if that is a knick name or not. All of my grandparents relatives live in Canada, my grandmother also had 10 siblings. My Sister, Tammy and Peggy, and My cousins Andy, Tony and Wally are the only american borns and even they went back to Canada, along with my aunt Maxine, who was also a Lalande at one time. The only ones in the states now are Andy, Tammy and myself.

I'm not sure we're talking about the same people. My mother was Rose Mary Lalande and my Great Aunt was Rose Lalande. My mother died in 1978 and my great Aunt died around 1970. Rose was only 47 when she died but my great aunt was in her 70's or 80's.
