I don't know if we are the Dunstan's that you are looking for...but my parents still live in Rouyn-Noranda. We were the only Dunstan family living there and they are all related. St-Michel-Archange Cathedral (1925).

The city of Rouyn appeared after copper was discovered in 1917.
Noranda (a contraction of North Canada) was created later around the Horne mine and foundry.

Son nom est Leon Thomas Garon. Il a ete mon gerant a la banque C.I.B.C. a Rouyn.(dans les annees 1960) Sa belle-famille etait des Dumoulon, de Rouyn.C'etait un homme tres colore, il avait ouvert la banque a Rouyn dans une tente, il etait tres competitif. Chevalier de Colomb (4ieme degre) je crois.Vous avez raison , il avait seulement des filles.A Rouyn, vous pouvez trouver comme attrait touristique La Maison Dumoulon( premier bureau de poste de Rouyn.) Vous pourriez peut-etre y trouver d'autres renseignements.Le journal la FRONTIERE, a surement des articles sur lui.Je ne me souviens pas de l'annee de son deces

They lived in the Rouyen/Noranda area. My mother in law was born in Temiskaming and the family lived for some time in Swastika, ON. Hi Wendy, you missed a wonderful opportunity to meet former clasmates from St Anne's this past summer. We had the first ever school reunion. Over the course of the reunion weekend, over 500 alumni dropped in on the activities. My maiden name is Lamourie and my mother is a Lapointe. My mother's (Elizabeth Lapointe) father's name was Edmund Lapointe. He was one of three sons born to Ernest Lapointe and Grace Beauvais. My grandfather, Edmund Lapointe was married to Janet Johnston. They had tthree children Elizabeth, George, and Margaret.
My grandparents and parents both lived and worked in Noranda, Quebec. They are all now deceased, but I would love to get any information about our family tree.

The church no longer has legal authority to print these for you. In fact as ID or a legal document they are now invalid. You have to apply to the government to have them issued. I just went to renew my passport and found that out and had to order all new documents from Quebec City. It takes about 4-6 weeks and there is a cost for each document.

I apologize for not responding sooner.

You are absolutely right. My wife and I made 4 separate trips to the archives in Rouyn during last Fall. We were able to scan over 100 negatives which were given to the archives from the estate of a Mr. Herman Bolduc. We were also able to scan several articles from old copies of the Rouyn-Noranda Press.

I'm hoping that there may be some people out there who have old photographs of the school, and would not mind sharing them with me.

I was just browsing this sight because I am from Noranda also. I was surprised to see this message as my mother (Hilda) and George's mother (Anne) were sisters. My mom died in Toronto on September 12, 2004. George's dad, Tommy, was my Godfather. I was born in 1963 and he died a couple of years later in a mining acccident. I spent alot of quality time with Aunty Annie (George's mom) growing up in Noranda. What a small world.

George A Katronge, 70 of Westborough, died unexpectedly on Friday September 3, 2004 at the Cape Cod Hospital. He was the husband of C. Maureen (Kingan) Katronge.
Born in Noranda, Qubec, Canada, he was the son of the late THomas and Anna (Maloof) Katronge. He was educated in Noranda Schools and was a graduate of McGIll University in Montreal with a degree in chemical engineering.
Mr Katronge was employed as a chemical engineer with Digital retiring in 1998.
He was a communicant of St Luke the Evangelist Church, a member of the WAlker MEadow Men's Club, the Ocean Edge Country Club, was an avid golfer and was a proud grandfather of his seven children.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Peggy A Preuse of Northboro, MA, Gail M Yzaejian of Belmont, MA and Barbara M Cederlund og Grafton, MA, one sister, Anita Firlotte of New Brunswick, seven grandchildren, ANdrew, Benjamin and Catherine Preusse, Samantha and Melissa Yazejian and Sean and Joshua Cederlund.
Hus funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept 7 at 10:30AM in St Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St, Wetborought. Burial will follow in St Luke's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to AMerican Diabetes association, PO Box 31160, Hartford, CT 06150-1160.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of teh Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St. (www.westboroughfuneralhome.com)
