I am looking for information on my gr. gr. grandfather, Leon Benoit Alexandre Duclos. He was born 01 Marchn1835, at Old Mines, Missouri, USA. He was married to Pelagie Jolly. Leon left his wife and children to fight in the American Civil War. I have a copy of a military report that he deserted the US Army in January 1863 at Napoleon, Arkansas. It is reported he was never seen or heard of by any family member again. Rumor has it that he went to Canada and died there in the early 1900's. His fate is unknown and I am very interested in finding out what happened to him. I know it is possible that he could have been discovered in Arkansas and executed as that was a Confederate state and Leon was a Union soldier. It is also possible that he was killed in action and was never recorded as a casualty.
I would truly like to find the fate of my gr. gr. grandfather.
BTW, I do NOT read FRENCH.
