The Sisler family first came to Whitchurch Township, York County, Ontario from Lycoming County, Muncy Township Pennsylvania. The Sislers were still living in Lycoming County in 1800 according to a tax record. The first record we have of the Sislers in Whitchurch Township is an Upper Canada land petition from George Sisler (Junior) where he said he arrived in York County in 1807. However, I was able to find John Pipher and his wife Mary (Sisler) Pipher in the 1871 census in York County. She would have been born about 1806 in Ontario according to this census record. If she was born in York County, this would push back one year when the Sislers arrived in York County.
I cannot conclusively say who Mary Sisler's parents are. My best guess is her parents were George Sisler (Senior) and Margaret Sisler (her maiden name is unknown). This would make Mary the sister of James Sisler (Senior) and George Sisler (Junior). There were also Lewis and Houston Sisler who I believe were siblings of Mary,James and George. Lewis ended up living in Erie County, New York where he died. Houston moved to Barry County, Michigan where he died.
I do remember finding a record of Mary Sisler many years ago but I don't remember what the record was.
I still live in Newmarket in the area or original settlement. There are still Sislers who live in York County. I live a few miles from where John and Mary (Sisler) Pipher are buried.
Thank-you for the information. I did not know Mary Sisler had married John Pipher and where they are buried.
My gggg grandfather was James Sisler Senior.

Yours truly,
