I am interested in learning anything about the people listed in the following obituary:
BOWN, Emily Henrietta, widow of the late John FERRIE At her residence, 221 Bay street south, on 23rd Feb. 1902 "Four sons and two daughters are left to mourn her death They are: Messrs. Campbell and Robert R. Ferrie, of this city; Alexander E. Ferrie, Toronto; Walter B. Ferrie, Vancouver; Mrs. T.S. Haslett and Miss Colina Ferrie, city. Mrs. Ferrie was a daughter of the late Samuel Bown, of London, Eng. ..." -- excerpt from undated newspaper clippings
I have some information about Emily's parents and siblings, and would like some about her life and descendants.

Re: Bown - Ferrie families
Now I'm confused. I checked the information about Rachel Springer and Caleb Reynolds and find that they married about 1794, or so the information in the Ontario register suggests rather than states. Rachel had a sister Henrietta who married Richard Beasley, the father of Catherine who married Colin C.Ferrie. Did Catherine Beasley also have a sister Rachel?

Re: Bown - Ferrie families - Reynolds/Springer
Trying to verify whether Rachel Springer & Caleb Reynolds were the parents of Benjamin Reynolds who married Mary Carey. One of Benjamin & Mary's children was Anson Green Reynolds. Do not have much information but looking for help. Families settled in the Cramahe Township, Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada.

Re: Bown - Ferrie families - Reynolds/Springer
The Old United Empire Loyalist List, Appendix B has 2 entries that may interest you, for Lt. Caleb Reynolds and Benjamin Reynolds. Of Benjamin it says "By Order in Council 13th October 1807. Soldier R.R.N. York." Both were listed in the 'Home District'. That Order In Council might answer your question, but I cannot. I am not researching this family unless Caleb Reynolds is the same person who was the son of Martha Bown and Samuel Reynolds of Somerton, Somerset, England.

Re: Bown - Ferrie families
Hi, Not many posts about the Ferrie family, so hope no one minds that I'm posting here. I'm interested to learn more about the family of Colin Campbell Ferrie and Catherine Beasley. Specifically, I'm a descendant of their daughter Harriet, who married Dr. Charles Newland Trew of Kingston in 1872 (with Colin Campbell Ferrie and Catherine Beasley listed as her parents). Harriet and Charles Newland moved to New Westminster, BC in the 1880's, where he was a founding surgeon at Royal Columbian Hospital, and also District Coroner. I've found a lot of information about the Ferrie family in general, but have not found much that is directly related to Harriet. I'm curious that on the 1851 census she is listed as "Harriet Mcleod," ??? age 6, family member; while on the 1861 census she is listed as "Harriet Ferrie," age 15. On the 1871/72 census she may be the person listed as Harriet Ferrie or Farrie? age 25, "governess," on one of these, for the "Young" family??. I'd love to learn more about her, and other immediate family and descendants. I have a great deal of historical information collected about the Ferrie family here in Canada, and Scotland, as well as some information about the Beasley/Springer connection...as well as what I've been able to gather through available genealogical posts, etc.

Re: Bown - Ferrie families
If you are interested in Colin Campbell Ferrie's brother Robert and John or in his sister Rachael Campbell who married John Young Bown, I can help you with them and their descendants. The only members of the Ferrie family I have researched are those who married Bowns. The British Columbia Archives website might prove useful.

Re: Bown - Ferrie families
I'm not sure if this relates, but my grandfather was a McLeod-Ferrie and they often shortened their name to Ferrie.
